Here's a lovely weld on  substation doors from Jhb City Power contractors, where skills and talent abound

btw, they have also taken to 'welding' substation doors closed because they can't seem to get a decent system of locks & security in place

That looks like a hadidas public toilet

I have been told that I can weld, because I have 3 boys... but I suspect it may be a different kind of welding we are talking about here....

Welds are pretty strong... I havent seen them falling apart

My father in law once said that my welding looks like an iron bird crapped all over everything.......but then my grinding is good! I made all the security gates and burglar bars for my first house myself. I still ride my bike past there regularly and after 2 decades it is still in place. It's good to see. My second house, I was smarter and got someone else to do it.

Need you to do mine. Silly driving school drove through my bottom gate again yesterday...

:D There's a nasty sharp little corner near my house where the late at night drunken drivers often got it wrong and ended up going over the sidewalk and through the hedge of one of our government ministers. After trying all kind of warning signs and bollards, the solution was to put a massive boulder on the corner, easily half the size of a VW Beetle. It get scuffed, but not much more. And the hedge and the minister is unscathed.

I took metalwork at school, and even for our first ever welding attempts, did nothing ever look this bad!

Bwahahahaha!

After about the fifth time I had my gate repaired, I was picking up the dogs' bowls to take in to wash. I watched through a gap in my wall as a learner driver was doing a way-more-that-three-point turn. As the hapless student reversed a bit, I dropped the metal dog bowls...which made quite a racket, and spooked the learner driver who popped the clutch and reversed into my neighbour's tree.

It kept the driving schools away from my cul-de-sac for a while.

You do know how ironic it is that a person with a hub name like yours comments on a thread like this...Lipstiek Dipslick?.What that poor lad did with that welding rod...

This is scary !!!

Its sad that he cant see.. that the hinge is made from brass and he is welding it with an arc welder with  steel rods. Hope he is not getting paid as a welder.

Different metals?  Brass? Steel?  Where are you speeking from?!. . . .

I only see die yster!!

I love seeing somebody master a craft...some of this is like art...would make a hand build bike something special

Cool welding pics.

The bike frame pic is hand welded.

But I suspect the rest those pics show automated machine welds.

And I know that mine is like the Sharks defence; all over the place, full of gaps and likely to fall apart without any provocation

It is Friday I suppose...

Try not to get an afrox cylinder, if you do and you take it back to afrox for a refill and you don't have a rental agreement with them they will charge you for the rental since the last time it was in there system
