What I did like was the fact that when those trees were there, it blocked alot of the wind.

Yes, but now the breeze will cool you instead.

Silver linings and all that :-)

I don't need silver linings. I desperately need Tokai back in my life. 15 minutes from home any day of the week instead of 45 minutes+ drive elsewhere on weekends only. Besides, there's way too much new trail stoke for me to be missing trees.

FAR better than the sun we get on tygerberg trails in the evenings...

JOH. Right in the eyes.

Ha ha, yes, I did a little jump at Contermans once and the next ting I knew I was flying towards this moerse white light, but then my suspension guardian angel saved me and I realized it was just the late afternoon sun after all......

Okay as promised a few more pics, lets start with Snake Eyes which looked a bit like this a couple of weeks back.

Moving on to the old straight line of a climbing trail that was Puff Adder, which presented a slightly different set of challenges and we made as many changes to the trail as we thought we could get away with...

The entrance looked like this -

Walking the trail was a bit like this -

The top entrance now looks like this -

And the trail looks like this -

Moving on to Mamba, which from above looked like a jungle before Reto went nuts and produced something  really magical. To give an idea of the effort on Mamba alone roughly 850 wheelbarrow loads of material for lining were pushed up and down this trail. The unexpected upside of this was it produced what ended up being called the 'wheelbarrow XC line' and basically compacted the trail lining really well.

And the sharp eyed will have noticed that we have started putting up trail signs to further our harassment of parks and add a little more pressure...

Damn it's looking good and now I suppose we'll have to wait till the end of December[emoji22] Still I guess it'll be an awesome Xmas present.

Well the upside of waiting another 2 months is that if we get a bit of rain and some baking hot days the dirt should settle nicely. Let a thousand bikes up there now and it will be ripped to shreds in the first weekend

Trouble is that the aliens grow so fast that some of the trails cleared earlier may need a second round by the time we are allowed in.

I thought about this. Still think about it. By the looks of it up there. It will be a long term ongoing process to get rid of those aliens. It just always strikes me, the scale of it.
