Have only filled my car up with petrol once, where I had to do it at least 3 times a month. But don't think commuting saves me money; I eat like a pig, and maintenance costs run up very quicklyThat said I'd rather spend money on food (feed your body) and bike parts (feed your heart & soul) than on my car, which pollutes and you miss out on time in the saddle...

Its a little awkward because I'm not exactly sure how to answer it without alienating them but I also find endearing when people pretend to take an interest in things which which are close to my heart. How's the mountain biking/surfing going? I usually hear it from people who aren't particularly passionate about something of their own either so it hard to return the favour. As if I'm from another planet and completely out of touch with current affairs, sport or anything else for that matter.

I was talking to somebody last night and she said to me, "So what's going on in your head, besides cycling", to which I said, "Hey, there's nothing wrong with having cycling on the brain!"
