Here we go. An excerpt from Patrick's trail report....

Trail Z will be opening next weekend, as we are complete and are just tweaking the odd thing here and there. We have had some test riders down and by all accounts all really enjoyed the trail. I will go into detail next week with regard to the trail and what its all about, but pleeeze peoples, do not attempt to ride the trail before it opens!!! We are dealing with a new land owner here who is very paraat and in control of his farm. He misses nothing on the farm and you will place the whole trail in serious jeopardy if you are attempt to ride the trail. Hold on one more week and I promise the wait will be worth it!! Keep an eye out on next week for details of the trail launch

what about this last part

Before I do so, just a word on those that feel the need to take on the role of trail builder on our trails without notifying either me or the committee. I was enjoying my usual jaunt down the final descent at Hoogekraal last week, looking forward to my bomb down the Widowmaker. However my life flashed before me, as I hammered into the steps at the usual rapid pace only to realize that some cowboy had removed the rocks below the first step that changed the whole character of the the thing and seriously upped the gnar levels. After using every bit of skill I have in this tired body of mine I managed to avoid a serious nose plant and survived th ordeal. Now I don't mind gnarl and I think removing the rocks certainly makes the Widowmaker a lot more interesting and in the words of the Pinners... rather kieff!

However you cannot just do to the trails as you please, as any changes need to be signposted accordingly to ensure trail safety of other trail users..... yes, there are other trail users other than you!! The same thing happened at that big gap jump at the bottom of the Bloemendaaler, where some clown not only decided to completely reposition and rebuild the launch, he/it just gave up, left the thing unfinished and in an extremely dangerous condition. I have a feeling that as both these changes were made on the more technical sections of our trails I am probably looking at the non member Pinner brigade here and not the bulk of club members who really don't do things like this... Never mind.... whoever it is, I will get them and remember that hell hath no fury than a Gnome who has his trails tinkered on with no permission!!

Rode the trail this morning.  Man, what a blast.  I really enjoyed hammering the brakes in the berms to practise my Scandi-flick/slides, sometimes even using the berms as lips to pop off into the field.  I found the one gap jump to be a bit small, so I broke down the landing and rebuilt it a few meters further (picture attached).  You're welcome.  Thanks all involved.  So rad!
