Try string and vacuum cleaner, string in one end, vacuum cleaner other end to suck the string through frame. Then tie cable to string and pull back through the frame :)

this would have saved me loads of time after my last incident of snapping my cable half way up the frame on my madone - took me a very long time to find the hole..... ha ha (no dirty jokes please)

if available use the existing cable as a 'fish line' to guide the new cable.

Not an easy task. You may have to swivel the bike in several directions to make the cable fall the right way. I was so glad that my frame had internal routing. It made life so much easier.

I found using a long single strand from old cable works. Use a long enough piece to completely line the inside of the tube, and stick the new cable in the tube. Then, feed it through until the end is about a cm over the thin wire you lined the tube with. Then, lift that thin wire out, and it should stick up. Important to push and pull the new cable as it lifts towards the hole so you don't miss it, or lose it by it becoming too short. Not the clearest instructions, I know. But it works.

Unless you do it regularly, take it to someone who has the magnetic tool that gets put in the one side and picks up a wire shoved in from the other and pulls it through. Or buy your own, £40 on CRC.

Easy peasy.

Use a strong magnet - I have one out of an old Mag indoor trainer, place the magnet close to the exit hole in the frame and feed the cable thru, the magnet should pick up the cable - then you can guide it toward the exit...

how easy it actually is depends on the frame...

Hi . So Anybody know how to thread a cable on an S5 Cervelo Road bike. The Routing is internal and I have no idea. Replacing the FD Cable

Thanks

Your LBS should have the parktool tool, I know mine does!

I have an S5, and it's one of the easier frames to route. Just remove the plastic cable guide under the BB which makes life a lot easier, then replace it once the cables are routed.
