Salesperson > chasing bigger Incentive > Pushes product > Poor customer service > People like Patch' on social media > Brand under suspicion

Stupido sales oke ????

You know that you have arrived when 'Dale actually says your name.....

So how on earth do they come to the conclusion you're not good enough to ride S works! Do tell....

Not a clue - especially because he didn't even ask my name...

Still - there are some better spez dealers than others.... must be a reason I am happy to have a dealer 1200km away... much easier working with him than the concept store that's 2km from my office.

In another case (not Spez though) a bike shop sold a dude who is 5"5 a XL MTB because it would be "more comfortable", it also happens five the bike on the floor at the time, think it's a mate of BDFs if I remember correctly.

Not a specialized store issue - but a year back I was sold a Medium when I should've been on a large coz the med was on the floor at an "amazing deal". Worst purchase I've ever made, and it was coz a salesman pushed me into it...

Very few guys these days that actually want to sell you the bike that is right for you. All about moving what is on the floor!

I can top that one Grease Monkey I bought a new GT Zaskar Elite 29er in a labeled medium size. Never felt right on it tried everything stem length etc. Finally measured it after a while and found it was a large instead of a medium. QC sucks! Sold it and built another Cotic

Sorry for this ignorance, but what exactly are the differences between the camber expert and the S Works.

Also, Patch, it fascinates me that your dad would still want the camber, when he already has the S Works. Please feed my unhealthy curiosity.

I hate it when sales people try and push a product that you dont want. It just creates doubt.

What happened to listening to the customer and seeing to customers needs. These days, sales people who get commission lye for the sale!!

I imagine to complete the set since Patches first post said his dad has 11 Spez bikes.

This post did remind me that the Cedar Square store still owes me a call about some 2FO's from about a year ago...

The S Works bikes usually have higher specification bits on and are much lighter. Think XX1 and carbon wheelsets, carbon cranks etc.... Sometimes the frames are a bit tweaked too. Prices are stratospheric.

Expert level Spez bikes usually a good mix of high performance bits but not the esoteric stuff. Almost same performance but much more cost effective....kinda like the difference between XTR and XT groupsets.

The difference between the Camber and the Epic is a suspension travel and geometry thing. (If you want a technical answer)

That is however irrelevant to the "want" factor.

The Epic was bought because it was an amazing deal. Didn't satisfy the want and desire for the Camber though.

Look logic does not apply to the N+1 thing. Like I said, he has a collection of bikes, and wanted to add to it.

It's also irrelevant to point about slimey salesmen ;)

That is shocking! Surely you could have used that as basis to get your money back?

From the sideline it appears that the issue here is more about a few people than the product... and though we all know that bad people can damage a good brand, it is also only fair to be specific and give them, in this case Spez, a chance to fix the problem.

I believe Johan has played the game, and would not expect anyone to "resolve" a problem in an open forum. This is the interwebnet with plenty anonymous heroes - I would suggest anyone with a problem deal with it now that the door is open!

I deal with Complete in Bedfordview (Spez shop) and they have been great. As with any premium product, customers are (and should be) demanding, and Complete has been extremely positive.

On the bike technical points raised (and please understand that I am a complete idiot on these matters) the Epic and Camber are two VERY different bikes. Google is your expert! What I can tell you is that yes, the S-Works are expensive, but as a 'package' it must also be the most prolific bike spotted at the front of any MTB race out there. Just saying... So sort of the Hilux of MTBs.

So did you ever buy the 2FO's.....

No I didn't.

To be honest, I actually completely forgotten I'd asked them to get my size until I was writing that post earlier.
