ALSO added Kittel is saving as much energy on the tough mountain stages as possibke.. so Bling's efforts may catch up. ..and the flat stages have a lot of points on the line. Whichever way the green jersey goes, they will see how hard it is winning that thing.

Theres a unwritten rule about attacking the Maillot Jaune when the rider has a mechanical or a crash.

Contador dit it to Andy Schleck a few years back to.

THAT!!! is my reason for Bertie not being one of my favourites. I thought he was way out of line that year to attack when ASchleck had that mechanical. And it cost AS big.

If you read what both Aru and Froome had to say about it, then no.

They both said it was because of the fans.

They were both just being politically ... excusable. Looking at that video inset of the incident, I didn't see the fan. But that is the same as Aru saying "I didn't see the arm".

And I remember the strong debate we had on the hub after that.  And I think Bertie had a tad more of an excuse about not knowing Andy had a mechanical.  Unlike Aru saying he could not see the yellow jersey with a raised hand calling for a team car.

I do not beleive that Aru did not see that CF had a problem.  Look at the footage as Aru was dismayed when he realised he is not supported in his attack yesterday.

And like Aru, Contador also lied about seeing anything when video footage showed him looking down at Schlecks chain when he passed.

I think Contador might not be able to win the race but he might still play a big role in who does win it, Let's not forget last years Vuelta.

The fans that helped to keep Aru upright yes  :whistling:

Shame I was rooting for Uran and thought he'd got it and WB had thrown too early but then it was hot seat for him and Uran was off to the dopping shed.

Poor bloke, claimed it, cried, start the interviews, flanked by tour guys then left to cry in the other direction when everyone thought to look at the picture! WB put in a mammoth effort being out there all day and sticking with the final group and almost taking it... BUT how was Uran though given the choice,  Team car: 'what gear do you want and mavic will manually put it on that for you. Think you can get to the line and win a sprint in 53 / 11?' Uran: 'Sure'.

Watching him slow pedal struggle up those final few slopes before winding up the slowest non-sprinters duke out was brilliant. Loved his win and hope he gets on the steps this year.

Its just not the same without Sagan, he went after all of the points by working hard and doing things the pure sprinters couldnt get right. Sure its wide open this time but I really enjoyed watching him get into breakaways to chase down those points.

It makes you wonder if he wouldn't have just walked away with the win by a much bigger margin if he could actually select the gears as and when he needed them.

Me too.

I think many other riders would have thrown in the towel, especially when he had to grind it.

Glad he won, if only because he never ever gave up. A small part of me was rooting for Bardet to stay away, he is starting to grow on me.
