I'm not. she's probably sitting in the shade during the heat of the day - best time to rest.

got a reply from race office - so jeannie is not actually racing for the win in terms of prizemoney. would be bragging rights to win line honours too, but she's got about a 5 hour lead in the women's cat - so failry comfortable.

prize categories are a bit funny if you ask me., if you apply this year's rules to last year's results, then john ntuli would win the development category, and gran usher would win the mens even though he crossed the line 2nd.

The (PDF download) rules state:

5.4. Only the first overall rider in the race shall receive a free entry into next years race. Bragging rights

The PDF, in terms of the categories, it is in line with national and international standards - split by gender and then additional as per the organiser's request (development).

It's a looooong road winding through the Karoo between Loxton and Sutherland. Waiting for the leaders to arrive here in Sutherland. Not much wind, but still hot. Can't even start to imagine how tired the riders must be. They deserve a huge amount of respect!

The back enders - Neville Higgs, Mike Glover and others behind them as of 14H00 Friday have 70 hours to cover around 630km.

Will they make it?

Does anybody have his number?  Let's phone him and tell him he is on the wrong track

Just be careful before you do this that it's not against the rules. For most unsupported ultra distance races this would be considered outside support, and a clear violation of the rules.  (e.g. TCR, Freedom Challenge.)

I had a quick look through the Munga rules, but did not see anything. Please check before you do so that you don't jeopardize his race. Maybe check with the organizer first.

The sheriff's work sticks out like a sore thumb - love it.

Won't really do this.  Was just showing how tense it is for us to watch this and see when somebody goes off track and you can't do anything about it, don't even know him.
