Possible Scammer

Hi Hubbbers,

 

Got contacted from a guy who wanted to sell me a kickr (Kyle#01)

Got the price, he then he said he lives in Durban but the kickr is in the WC.

He would not tell me the specs of the kickr

He mentioned that he would arrange transport and insurance as his buddy runs a transport company.

I mentioned that I was uncomfortable with not seeing the goods before i bought it and inquired whether his buddy offers an escrow service or something similar.

He has now gone dark with no contact or trace which hints that it could have been a potential scam who got caught.

 

It could be a potential scammer or he is away and hasnt replied.

I do apologise if he is away and there is a lack of comms.

 

Better to be safe then sorry.

It could very well be a scam, theres a plethora of scammers out there. Always be careful if it feels wrong then it is.

I enquired about some shoes he had for sale. When I lost interest in the model he had he offered me a newer model he was willing to part with. I would be more weary if he had just joined a few days ago. Maybe coming in this thread will be his first post.

Scammer. I was contacted by the same guy when I wanted to sell my bike. Also claimed he had a transport company that can pick up the bike. Made it difficult for the guy and eventually he went to look for another victim.

 

EDIT: Not the same guy, but same circumstances. My mistake. Just went through my e-mails.

Oh Crap, I just bought an article from this guy (Kyle#01) and since payment he has gone quiet.  Been communicating via Whatsapp but when I call the number I get to a different person - is this even possible?!

He has been online this afternoon. When did you make payment and is it to same bank? Try and stop the payment asap with online banking or call your bank's customer service. Let us know what happens.

Google the phone number - been selling items under multiple user names (Kyle#01;KyleDorkin,Madbikeman,SwissCyclesZA) with locations in Western Cape, KZN, Gauteng etc over the past few years...

 

I reckon it's all genuine and just appears suspicious... Strange way of doing business, but the KyleDorkin user name seems genuine and the cell number has been consistent.

Based on the above it's probably worth Admin doing some checks on their side if they can. If he doesn't deliver the goods then hopefully someone lays criminal charges!

Isnt Swiss Cycles in Jhb? I called them the other day. Sneaky if he is using there name on here.
