Your Perfect Fleet?

So I was sitting and fantasizing (as I do at times) about my perfect fleet of bikes. Most of us are left with the situation where we have to use one bike for many purposes eg: we buy a trail bike which we use for XC, stage races, and trail riding, simply because bikes are expensive, and we would rather have one very good bike than many average ones. But if money was not an issue, and you could have any 5 bikes in the world, what would they be? And what would you use them for?

I'll go first:

1. Specialized Epic - XC and Stage Races

2. Specialized Stumpjumper 650B+ - Fun/Trail Bike

3. YT Industries Capra CF or Specialized Enduro - Enduro

4. Custom Built Titanium Gravel Grinder/Touring Bike

5. Canyon Dude Fat Bike - Just for fun

I'm a bit of a Specialized Fan Boy... Please don't hate me  :whistling:

And I think proof of the fact that there is something seriously wrong with me (and I'm guessing most of you) is that I got to 5 and thought, "this is not enough" haha.

I'll play this game.....

1. Jones Plus with truss fork - fun/trails/marathon/whatever

2. Jones Ti Space Frame and truss fork - its beautiful

3. All City Nature Boy Disc - CX/Gravel

4. Cotic Rocket 650b - bigger trail/fun

5. Ragley TD1 - XCO

Spez Epic for xc/marathon

Spez Enduro 29 for fun and #enduro

Steel SS 29er

Steel SS 26"

Steel cx/commuter

Steel Italian Classic/trainer bike

Carbon Road

Somehow that looks like a part of my fleet... the benefits of many years of not selling old bikes...

Posted

1. LOOK 898 with Lefty for XC and stage races

2. TREK Madone 9.9 with Campag Super Record EPS and Lightweight Obermayer Gold Wheelset for road racing

3. My current TREK 2000 for the ultimate training bike

4. LOOK Monoblade 796 for TT with SR EPS and Lightweight disk wheelset

5. Cannondale Scalpel Si for the Munga and whatever else....

This list is still waaaaay to short :whistling:

Posted

1. Carbon road bike F8, for training and road racing

2. Orbea TT bike for triathlons

3. Niner EMD for fun days

4. Niner Jet 9 for stage races

5. Recently sold steel 650b SS... considering getting a replacement SS

Sjo.. 5 is not enough.. I already have more than 5!

But the ultimate would have to be:

1. Focus Izalco Max with Sram Red for um.. "racing" on the road

2. Focus o1e for XC and stage races

3. Specialized S- Works Stumpjumper (650+) for trail and fun

4. Focus Paralane for gravel

5. Focus Mares Max for CX

But I also want a couple of old steel classics.. And some more Spez bikes.. and a Giant or two, because I've always had a soft spot for Giants.. Maybe an Italian stunner or two, like a De Rosa or Colnago, some more gravel bikes, a TT bike just to stare at, a couple of 'Dales etc, etc...

I reckon I'm not far off for my needs .... Have yet to decide to do something and not had an appropriate bike ????

That doesn't mean I wouldn't like more fensie versions of those though but I'm happy ????

Fortunate due to various circumstances though to be in this position.... Helps having a, now ex, son in law with a bike shop ????

In terms of number of bikes I seem to be more humble but the total value could well be the same as some of the more elaborate lists :

1) To compensate for lack of power on tar: Pinarello Dogma F8, Dura Ace DI2, Accelerator wheels

2) To compensate for lack of skills on dirt: Pyga Stage

Posted

1) Yt Capra ( enduro monster)

2) Spez Epic (Its a great bike end of story)

3) Cotic BFe (to play around on)

4) Pinarello F8 ( to give myself the ilusion of fitness)

5) Mondraker Summum ( Well just look at it)

I think this post sums up the N+1 disease so well haha.
