Just keep in mind many companies do carbon repairs (such as Miway, even when the professional opinion is that the frame must be replaced - many threads on this). Cyclesure does not do repairs at all, even when it can be fixed, they replace your frame. So for that I am willing to pay a little more...

Well I cracked my frame a while ago , and they are buying me a new one so I can also not be to peeved about the premium.

Well actually the premiums I've paid so far will probably not cover a new frame anyway.

First time i'm claiming from them and everything was done quick and easy.

I am and have been insured with CYCLESURE since 2011 and have had reason to claim due to theft and then again due to damage, and there was no hesitation or fight about either of the claims.I have found them to be absolutely great with both communication and assistance.Where as the frame brand has been pathetic with their service levels(and am not going to mention the brand).

Insurance is pretty much a necessary evil. When you don't have it you will need it in every possible way.But when you have it things seldom go wrong.

Pay the premium with a smile and know you will not have an issue when suffering loss or damage to your faithful steed!!!

Paying half with Cyclesure compared to Outsurance plus far fewer limitations.

My bike has to be stolen from home for full cover, if it's nicked from or off the car it's limited to R20k with Outsurance.

Brother in Law put me on to Cyclesure and he had no issue claiming for a pair of riding shades damaged in transit.

I stopped my insurance with discovery when they brought in this 10K excess crap. I have 2 bikes insured with M & F (50K and 80K) and I pay about 700 in total and no excess

I am also with AF and got a really good price. That is probably because I moved all my insurance to them. The more you put on the policy the cheaper the All Risk items becomes...

Outsurance wanted to charge me R1100 for a R65k bike without accessories and a huge access payment. Totally ridiculous. I am insured with Cyclesure and if you compare apples with apples, no one can beat what they offer and their service and efficiency is top notch when it comes to claims.

I am with outsurance and pay R750 pm for R75k road bike.

Omelette, who are u with?

I had a recent discussion with my insurer: bikes that had been insured for longer enjoyed better rates. In other words a newer biker (year) for a lesser value had a higher monthly premium. Go figure. Argued. Came down a tad. (cycle sure)

Insurers change rates monthly but they can't change your premium monthly. (well, they can but it's an administrative nightmare). If you add 2 exact same items, let's use bicycles as example, to your policy a few months apart, you're likely to be charged a different premium for the newer addition.

On my system its easy ;) We do monthly rerates :P

Its the legality of notifying the insured about the change thats the issue.

Also did a quote this week to compare with my current policy. CS was about R200 more expensive and includes an excess whereas I currently have no excess.

Also requested a quote through the BikeLife guys but they're only back in the office next week.

Update:

I only requested one bike quote form Bike life but here is teh comparison:

Cyclesure:

Bike A - R110 000       - R595

Bike B - R85 000         - R425

Bike C - R45 000         - R304

Basic excess 5% of claim, min R2500

Bike Life:

Bike A - R110 000       R550

Basic excess 20%, min R5000

(you can buy down the excess to 5% min R1000 @ additional R275 p/m

For reference-

Current Insurer

Bike B - R85 000         - R425
