Best Carbon Clinchers?

Hi,

I am in the market for some new wheels.

My criteria is:

Full Carbon

Clincher (No, I will not go tubby)

Not too deep, in the 303 type depth bracket.

Around the R30k mark

What are the options out there? Opinions?

If you have links to good local deals, they will be most welcome.

I just want a change. If you want some cool Carbon wheels with a PowerTap built in, go look in the classifieds, there is a good deal!

Edit: They are going on a Colnago C60, so they must be HOT too ;)

Some Bora's Delano just got a set from Wiggle at around that price. Enjoying them, also will do well with the colnago

Really like my American Classic Carbon 40's, they were about R18000

Not fit for a Colnago C60, too bland.  :whistling:

It deserves something special, like the Bora's.

I really like the Zipp firecrests or 454s - evobikes has specials - but on your bike some original campy wheels to go with your group will be pornstar.

FWIW though, I'd seriously consider importing through Light Bicycle / XMCarbonSpeed.

Light Bicycle now supply rims to Industry Nine for their branded I9 wheels. I just happen to have Project321 hubs which use I9 freehub.

So technically I have I9 wheels rebranded as my own.

But they are not anywhere near R30k and in Jozi that is the important thing, not the quality of the build.

CRCs Prime wheels? They seem to offer great value for money given the generally excellent reviews and comparably low price. With a R30k budget, you'll have plenty dosh left over. Somehow, marginal gains just came to mind thinking about that budget.

Another question: Disc or old fashioned primitive rim brakes?

If tubeless rim brakes I'd go with ENVE 3/4 laced to Chris King R45 with Sapim CX-Ray as a hard on inducing custom wheel set.
