'undoing' rear brakes on climbs (road)

Saw in Paris - Nice that 'Berto et al actually 'loosen' their rear brakes (like when you remove the wheel normally) on climbs and then 'tighten' it back up when descending .... never seen that before?

Mentioned that it's just in case there is any rubbing at all but surely they have enough confidence in their mechanics/equipment ....

Maybe they're just making a point that they don't want discs, cos they can't do that as easily?

Funnily enough carbon wheels flex when you stomp on the pedals and rock the bike... which is how Contador climbs.

His brakes are probably so finely tuned that the 0.6mm gap between rim and pad could touch when he gets out the saddle.

Just my 2c. I think for a limber like Froomie who sits and spins it wouldn't be an issue as the rim gets to stay upright and super rigid

Now that does make sense .....

Hence us mere mortals (well me anyway) needn't bother

true this is

I scrape an odd spoke when you stomp on a climb due carbons flexing ( not bad b screw )

and if your brake gap is tight you hear a swish from the pads

with campy you can release your brakes with the push button and reconnect at the top

I spose if I was out to win I might be willing to try everything that might help
