Dylan Vermeulen Posted March 13, 2017 Share WARNING TO ALL.Last year December I went and purchased a wonderful 2nd hand bike from Eagle Canyon Cycles in Johannesburg. A few minor things needed to be fixed which the shop were happy to do and leaving for the last time they assured me that I should come back if there are any other problems with the bike. I flew myself and the bike down to Cape Town and after 3 weeks of riding a spoke had broken. Taking the bike to a local shop in CT, they had removed the wheels and shown me that both rims were cracked right down the middle.(There is no way I could have broken those rims like that, I'm at the most beginning level of riding and couldn't go faster than a granny walking down a hill). With myself being in cape town, my grandfather up in Johannesburg had gone to Eagle Canyon Cycles and informed them regarding what we have found to be wrong on the bike. An older gentlemen who I believe to be the father of the son who owns the shop, had said that we would have to send the rims up to them and they would sort it out for us. After sending the rims up, my grandfather had taken them to the shop and shown them. The young shop owner (which I think is Chans or something like that) had disrespectfully dismissed my grandfather that they would not repair/replace the rims. After my grandfather trying to reason and have a mature discussion as adults, the shop owner had been blatantly rude and walked away, leaving my grandfather standing alone in the shop with no help or mutual forward steps. Then Going to cycle lab after almost 2 months and R2000 later I have had to do an entire redo so that the rims are ready to ride.I inform anyone reading this, if you are buying anything from Eagle Canyon Cycles, (especially a bike) check that bike first and make sure you know it better than your naked body. They don't seem to have any values of customer service or at least the respect to talk to someone with dignity. piotter, Ferro, extremez and 3 others

Patchelicious Posted March 13, 2017 Share The sons questionable attitude has been mentioned a few times. The dad is cool, but I stay away from the shop because of the sons "personality". Edited March 13, 2017 by Patchelicious AdamA

The dad should be around more to run customer relations aspect. Anyone can get customers but it takes a great deal to keep them Patchelicious

coppi Posted March 13, 2017 Share You bought a second hand bike, you cannot expect it to come without faults! The bad attitude from the youngster is totally unacceptable though............... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk AdamA
Tony datoy Posted March 13, 2017 Share Agreeable so, but you would at least expect it to be fit for purpose coming from a bicycle shop. BigTom Posted March 13, 2017 Share Secondhand means used, not busted.Agreed. And any reputable bike shop selling used bikes would do a thorough check and make sure they are not busted before leaving the shop. Grease_Monkey Posted March 13, 2017 Share Luckily there are enough bike shops that offer awesome service, just take your future business to people that want it! Bad luck about this experience though... Edited March 13, 2017 by Grease_Monkey Patchelicious and Silvia
IceCreamMan Posted March 13, 2017 Share I have always had excellent service from Eagle Canyon. Father an son an daughter an anyone there has always treated me well an given me top notch service. Just saying. If the rims were busted as said I am positive they were not aware of it. Or of course the other bike shop is having a laugh. Regarding the lad being disrespectful. Not cool but sounds out of character for him. Maybe his manner was miscperceived. Give them a call. I am sure it will be sorted out. Rocket-Boy Posted March 13, 2017 Share You know a shop must be a bit sucky if hubland doesnt tar and feather you for calling them out! I have a lot of respect for the man who likes IceCream, but I have a suspicion the good service comes from a long relationship. extremez and Dirkitech
