It should work but biggest tyres will probably be a 2.2 or smaller that will fit.

Fit 2.4 tyres to the 26er and you'll have bigger wheels  :w00t:

That is what I did.  My 26 er is now officially a 27 er. :w00t:

Dunno about the LT, but the ST you'll run into some serious clearance issues at bottom out with 650. I used to buzz my seat tube running 26 x 2.4 on the rear.

Easiest way to be 100% sure is to do a fitment test.

1. Fit a 650B wheel (with big volume tyre)

2. Remove the shock (only 1 side should do the trick)

3. If enough tyre clearance in the rear triangle then proceed to next step

4. 'Compress' the rear suspension to where the shock will bottom out. (measure 'virtual' eye to eye length of the shock at full compression)

If the tyre doesn't rub against the seatpost take it for a ride & decide whether that's the route you want to go or rather put the 26" wheel back.

I got A2.4 Ibex in the rear and the clearance was roughly 2mm on either side.

I had to file the cabler stop on the seat tube down to make room for the tyre when using most of the travel.

Because of the whole marketing hype behind 29" and 650B and everybody believing the BS they get fed , WE (the people that did not follow the trend ) find it very difficult to get decent 26" tires for our bikes .

Back to original post , Yes 650B will work on your Shova frame .

Locally that is true. Walk into your LBS and ask for 26" tyres and they look outside to see where you parked your oxwagon...

There are a few that stock descent tyres (Stoke and EVO Bikes come to mind) or else the choices are over the pond unfortunately where the news doesn't seem to have spread that fast...

Sorry I don't know how to turn the pic the right way

Here is a pic I took of three diffrent wheel and tyre sizes I had at some stage, just for interest's sake. The left (bottom) one is 26" with a Conti Mountain King 2.4. The middle is 29" with a Mavic Quest 2.35. The right (top) is 27.5" with a Schwalbe Racing Ralph 2.25. Personally I like the 26" with a bigger tyre more. K@k baie grip and a lekke comfy ride. And as you can see, there isn't a big diffrence in size. Decent 26" tyres is unfortunately harder to find, but not impossible.
