Any ideas on how many water points there are on the 55km MTB challenge and at what distances?

55km: There will be 3 water points on the longer route.

1. Approx 17km (Heron Bridge)

2. Approx 37km (Heron Bridge)

3. Approx 46km (Steyn City)

Has anyone done the 25km mountain bike ride before? How hard is it (i.e. for a 13 and 11 year old please)?

Done it last year. If the route is the same, it is just over 26 km, with +- 320m climbing. If they are used to this sort of climbing, then no problem

Not technical at all, but there was a river ( stream ) crossing that might be challenging for an 11 year old. I am sure you will not let them do it alone, so can help them through it, if it is still there.

Also 2 water points, so plenty of time for them to recover, if needed.

Last couple of km's downhill, with a nice fast finish.

Hope this helps.

Thank you. We will ride with them and help them all the way. Stop for water, snacks, etc. Seriously bring up the rear.

Think there is only 1 water point. Enjoy the ride with your kids.

I did a 35km mtb race at Wildekrans with my 14 year old daughter in August and was surely one of my best days out on the bike ever.

Thanks, im trying to decide if its worth the money to reseed. I only started riding again 2 months ago so I had a bad seeding for this event, my seeding is improving with each race so now I have to decide if its worth the R200. It all depends on how much earlier I will start.

Thanks though

It will take serious bribing to get a better seeding now[emoji4][emoji4]

Don't I recollect that you can request a reseed at registration? Or am I outdated??

this was possible last year, so chances are it would be the same. I used results from the Carnival City race which was just 2 weeks before 947 and had no issues to move up a few groups.

Sufferfest or Beerfest... :w00t:

Mind, starting in O group, it would take a few days for you to realise you won your group. So Beerfest for several days it is then!
