That table is an oversimplification and is factually incorrect.

Negative energy balance/caloric deficit. That's all there is to it I'm afraid.

Water only in bottles during rides - worked really well to accelerate weight loss... Worked really well for a friend of mine... Just don't devour the fridge when you get home.

The little boy at the doctor with his Mom " why do people get fat "?

Dr " because this hole ( pointing at his mouth ) is bigger than this hole ( pointing at his bum )"

Also from a burn point of view, try

Fasting rides

Intervals

Avoid trying only one method ????????

Those fasting rides work like a charm. I do it for most 90min or less work outs. Just don't end up far from somewhere if your body feels like having a good bonk!

That is the bottom line...

But, most peoples problem with carbs is that they cause proper fluctuations in your insulin production and that generally makes staying in deficit a whole lot trickier. Why eating a lower carb diet works for me is simple - I get a lot less cravings and feel sustained from what I eat for much longer.

Bread, sugar etc are cheap quick pick me ups that need to be topped up regularly else you feel pap and tired and fixing that is what puts you over your daily limit most of the time.

That too... but sensible eating has done way more for me than training ever did.

And we can't all be semi-pro's racing every weekend of the year

I think some people are luckier than others... IMO it has a lot to do with genetics. I'm 44 years old I eat whatever I want and I've never been fat.

This works

  • Cut out dairy, cheese, milk, blah blah blah
  • Drink water and only water. If you need a coffee, drink it black no sugar.
  • Limit your sugar intake and keep it healthy - No processed sugar!!!
  • Skip!!! Nothing burns fat and cuts muscle like skipping. When I was fighting competitively this was my number one go to for fitness.
  • Testosterone eats fat. Do exercises that increase testosterone levels.
  • Plank
  • Never give up. This is not a quick fix.

Exercises that works more than one muscle group, ie compound exercises, like squats, dead lifts. But you'll have to go heavy. #Broscience.
