The front bunches is bit of different "setup" and you will not ever be auto seeded into there, race office must do it "manually"

Best is to get hold of race office and explain to them,  maybe use the query my race seeding button.  They normally reply to all emails (if not marked as spam) , if you don't get response within 2-3 days, give them call .

You might have to show your ICU UCI (or equivalant) racing license etc etc

Edit: coffee laps

Thanks for the info. emailing with the race office has so far been a fairly detrimental experience...  a Yes I have a UCI masters racing licence - sent it to them now. Clearly not much priority given to seeding internationals unfortunately

Anyhos looking forward to it - hope to replicate the great experience I had four years ago. I filmed the last hour of my race in 2014, and happened to cycle quite a stretch together with Anriette Shoeman as seen in the video I posted back then: http://bit.ly/2nUBz9i

Hi. Norwegian participant here and having trouble getting answers from the race office so I thought perhaps someone here at the forum might know! :)

Question: in the CTCT start-list there is a category called "racing age group" which starts before the regular seeded groups 1A etc. What is this? Is this what previously was called VA (or something) for master racers?

Asking because I am trying to get correct seeding in the race, which isn't easy as an international participant... particularly with lack of information on the web-site. I am a pretty competitive cyclist and also Norwegian national masters champion 40y+. Participated in the Argus in 2014 (then I was put in "A" and placed 2nd) but that result is now too old to result in any meaningful auto-seeding.

thanks

Rumour has it they even accept strava results. (Like looking at percent on leaderboards.)

Last year the 'racing age group' groups were combinations of age groups.

If I remember correctly (after putting the best 200 or so people into $) they combined the fastest 20-30 year old and 30-40 year old riders into one group, and then the fastest 15-20 year old and 40-50 year old riders into another group.

I think it (the second 'racing age group') is the best seeding you can get if you're 40+ and you're not in the $ group.

Also always stay in fish hoek.

Riding with my dad this year means I'll start with him in the unseeded groups closer to 10am.

This means we'll have to leave FH by 6 so we dont get caught in the road closures, then have a little nap and some brekkies in the car whilst while we wait for our start time.

My official seeding is 3J @07:40 something.

Hi, how did you find out your seeding?

ok super - thanks for the info :) Wish they took the time to put some more information on the web-site.

Yes this is a general problem I find in the cycling community over here. Those of us relatively new to the sport do not always have the background the old hands take for granted, and is not communicated very well on websites.

I think they try their best to keep seeding a dark art! Hidden from the masses and looking like something supernatural. After decades I gave up trying to understand it. ;)
