Why ever does This Happen

Its simple I think.

1: Convert to tubeless

2: When riding on normal MTB trails, take a spare normal tube and a big bomb (duck tape said items to set post or frame, stay away from saddle bags, its my duty to society to make that comment)

3: When riding is super thorny places like Tour de Tuli, take 1 x normal tube, 1 x slimey tube and 2 x big bombs. Again stay away from saddle bags or Camelbaks. They made me wear one on the two occasions I rode that tour and I still feel gross.

I never used my slimey tubes, and I found them recently, the slime still feels ok inside, been a year now, so to answer your question, and to reiterate what I said earlier, they are cool as backup (get me home) items, but I wouldn't use them as a day to day items.

Thanks.

JIP - tubeless on both bikes !!

not carrying spares or tools on the commute bike ... short ride.

Nice BIG saddle bag on the trail bike .... but then, I am carrying spares for my bike and for the 20'' companion.  :)

rant on - [i.e. how to make the week shorter by making Tuesday feel like Friday]

I am beginning to think my observations are touching a nerve with a certain population hailing from a rather stormy part of the nation...

Perhaps it's in part to the lack of sunshine on their part, and the excessive sunshine on mine...

Come on people, HTFU, and stop being so politically-correct, over-sensitive-effeminate-call-it-what-you-will...

Seriously, there are more pressing issues in the world right now.

If you insist on riding a mtb in 2017 with tubes and sealant, then kudos to you. No one really cares either way.

Personally, I use my mountain bike in the terrain it was intended for, i.e. the mountain, and therefor tubeless, and ONLY tubeless, is the appropriate option.

If you are confused as to what a mountain bike is for, sell it.

And go get a gravel travel bike instead. You will be much happier for it.

rant off.

Lack of rain making you grumpy ....

I use my one MTB, Merida hardtail, as a commuter.  And due to the thorns along the route I  DO run tubeless !!    Sadly that means I cant run slicks ....  :whistling:

Tubeless doesn't fail regularly.

Why do you swop tyres regularly?

I apologize, my sentence was ambiguous there where you bolded it. I meant the slime from the the tubes sold with slime in already fails regularly- I have no experience with actual tubeless setups, but know that I cannot afford new slime with each swop out.

I swop tyres regularly because I have 1 set of offroad tyres and a cheap set of slicks, so when I ride on the road I use my mountain bike with slicks- extremely ugly but its the only thing that fits the budget!

Hi... I'm Eugene. I have tubes on my mountain bike with tyre liners. I also have a saddle bag.

There, I got it off my chest. I feel so much better now.

I learn new things on the hub every day! Would have been nice if some of it was cycle related.

There's more chance of learning something about cycling from a Cajees salesman than on the Hub. This place is about as cycling related as book clubs are about books.
