Well done Myles!!

I met a lady, one of the marshals and the official nurse, it was her first ever Enduro and she was on a rental bike. And she had a jol.

I must admit, I was scared going I to it, but it was easier than last year. It helps if you know what to expect.

Not doing the rocky stage 3 of last year and hiking up 4 made it easier IMO. I prefer this year's configuration though.

Smashing my derailleur a quarter into stage 5 meant I had to do a gravity run and that also forced me to ride smoother and maintain momentum. It was actually fun and took the racing pressure of the red mist off my shoulders.

This event really is something else.

I can't wait for next year, but maybe I should spoil myself with a little 160mm of something something up front...

Was that Katja?

But yeah. Bloody amazing day out, dude. My body certainly wasn't happy about carrying my beast of a bike up the mountain, but it sure was glad that it was there on the way down!!

Nice write up Myles and good effort.

Sad I missed this, but my misses said it was an awesome event!

Will be keen to check it out next year for sure. Stage 4 & 5 sounded like real technical challenges.

I also have to check out Jonkers apparently

Yeah. Definitely. Top to bottom runs of all the trails are now my yardstick for improvement ito technical riding.

Jonkers: Plumber; Red Phoenix; Canaries into Flow (to the carpark) and the new trail from the Saaltjie. No stopping at the road crossings. Full gas.

Tokai would be DH0/1/2/3. Also no stopping.

you could start by actually taking up the spot offered to you :P

Good point! Was actually supposed to be in the UK but that was bumped last minute to January... plus Dan D never replies to my emails. I'm trying not to take it personally. :)

The stoke was super-high on our way in to Eselfontein, with Raydek and I heading through at about lunch time to get a lead on the traffic out of CT. We got to Ceres at about 12h30, and swiftly got the obligatory Spur burger and beer out of the way. Yes, this event calls for burgers. And beers. Lots of them.

Either you start lunch way earlier than me, or have a chopper. or both!

Whhaaat? I reply to all my emails! Maybe going into my SPAM folder? So what's your real name so I can search...

I also wondered about this.... hahaha

10:30/11 was small break... big break usually started after 12:30!

"Family matters and work got in the way of my training" -  are you sure it wasn't all the spur burgers and beers that you write about?

Thanks for an entertaining write up, it literally has me tempted to sing up to one of these events.
