What is the cycling world coming to?

For years it was the product's weight that was the determining factor, then the industry introduced us to aerodynamics. We chose our wheels according to depth, bladed spokes etc.

Now sound?

Hahaha, each to their own, mate... each to their own!

You can never have them all. So you choose one that will make you complain less for not having others.

Mine are no longer loud

the reason for buying them is they last forever.

The sound is easy to control. It's purely a factor of which lubricant you use in the freebody. My Hopes were pretty loud after servicing. DT 350's on the new bike is dead quiet and I quiet like it.

When they stop, should they not be serviced or looked at? I know nothing about the hubs, so forgive me if this is a noob question.

Get Hope Pro 4 Hubs. They are by far the best Hubs in that price range. Order from CRC.

EDIT: And for crying out load, don't get any other colour than black.

Mine have 1000's of KM on them, the pawl springs are shot, still work 100% tho so no need to change them yet.

Love the sound of my Hope Hub on the trail.

Hate the sound of my Hope while setting gears or trying to pin point a sound on the bike with the rear wheel rotating.
