I think that car was parked there for a reason. In front of it is a water gutter. I think they tried to get people out of the yellow lane. It might not have been a problem in the dry, but in the rain it was filled with water and now one would see it.

un ****en believable - what would you take a chance with?

the car or the gutter.

Yeah, i think it was not thought through. There was a marshall behind the car when we passed it.

Anyone else see that red Toyota Corolla which was crashed(I assume stolen) in a ditch on the left of the road in 1 of the farmlands(Not exactly sure where I was at the time I saw it, Was too busy listening to my legs swearing at me for trying to catch the break)

Great for the first batches, but disastrous for the last batch riders who will have to spend 5 hours on a bike in the heat and wind of a Boland summer's day.

Will only add 15 minutes to the rest of the bunches start time.  They can even move $ earlier by that much as more than light enough and then 2a up will stay same start times

Jup, still made a comment to my riding partner about corollas and brandy don't have brakes when another blue/green (couldn't make out the color from the rain in my eyes) corolla came racing past us around a blind turn, on the wrong side of the road, in the pissing rain :cursing:

What a race, had everything... I just hope the guys involved in the crash just before wellington in the 2G, 2H and 2J bunch. My first race where a hit an average of 30km/h, super stoked!

Does the PPA use this result for seeding and I wonder what the beta would be for the race.

its only 100 at the start, problem is, we sucked up half of 1a and lots of 1c guys caught up. Got massive quickly. Think 4-5 min gap between starts should sort it out for 1x groups

Front half of 1A also sucked up many tandems and subvets, so still ended up being a big(ish) bunch. Some dodgy moments, particularly with that one mixed tandem that has no sense of group etiquette and safety...  :cursing:

We had the chat in group about this as well .. I would rather be told I ride like a %00$ than think I'm riding perfect and everyone pi$$ed at me as I'm all over the place.

There names was on there back .. just have chat to them and ignore the ones that gets grumpy, they will think about it and hopefully improve as well.

I was told of badly once in last years race , actually guy was really rude .. but at least I knew I was riding like a chomp and sorted it out.

Beta normally very low (0.9 - 1.05) .. And its the last official seeding event  for CTCT. so yes, used for seeding.

Yep, no really a useful race for seeding if you are already in the front bunches.

But every once in a while the computer throws out a nice beta for this one, who knows with the bad conditions they might? Although the winning time is 5 minutes faster than last year so I'm not getting my hopes up

That is what they say, but I have found that if you are a PPA member, then even the last event before the Argus could affect your seeding. I am thinking of the 99er, Tour De PPA, Bouckert, etc etc. PPA does seeding runs every week these days.

My 2017 Argus seeding was calculated on the 99er, which happens in Feb.

Just saying...

That is pretty impressive....

I recall we received our CTCT seeding end of Jan 2 weeks before the 99er - how did they know what time you were going to ride in the 99er?

This is true.

Don't think anything in the new year will count.

I did the 2017 99er and it counted toward my 2017 CTCT seeding. But.... I got my entry via a substitution, which took place after the 99er. So unusual circumstances in my case.  But otherwise, my understanding is that the 99er only counts to toward seeding for the following year's CTCT.

That was provisional & not the final, very seldom changes though.
