Chris Froome returns adverse analytical finding for Salbutamol

Arnie admitted that he was on the juice.

But he is a living legend. Watching Pumping Iron I gets you SO amped. He and his compatriots of that time are examples of what living, eating and breathing the sport is.

Yah, you cant watch pumping iron and not feel like hitting the gym afterwards, much the same as you feel like riding after watching Jan and Lance dueling up some crazy mountain pass.

I also love watching the first movie Arnold made, "Conan the Barbarian" it was really all about showing off his physique, but its just a great movie and gets one inspired to push some weights around the gym and that's what it was all about.

Google "The Barbarians" David and Peter Paul, they were twins and played alongside Arnold in Conan, they were massive and cut to shreds but they never entered any competitions, it was their trademark, people always said "you can win enter", but they became more famous by NOT entering than if the had, they were the only two I know who at the time admitted they were juiced to the eyeballs (but it didnt matter they were never competing) and they were super, super strong, Peter, reverse grip, bench pressed 200kg for 10 reps repeatedly, not even Arnold at his peak could do that, it was a record at the time, may still be, I don't know, but they were  super characters, exhibitionists of note, sadly one of them is legally insane now and I believe institutionalized.

Grumps , off topic but you are bringing back memories for me.  In the mid seventies I saw Arnold,  Frank Zane, Chris Dickerson, Boyer Coe and some who I forgot in the Selborne Hall Jhb.

Talking about SA guys there was also a bloke called Ray Mccauly.

Used to train as a schoolboy at International  Health in Rissik str. Now there's a sad story . Don't know who is old enough to recall the names Jannie Beetge and Bubbles Mpondo.

Sorry for the hijack .

Yah, it is old memories isnt it, but good ones. I can further add Kevin Mcnamara to the list of S.A body builders, also did very well locally and internationally, owned a really hardcore gym in Pretoria in the 70's and 80's, I trained there a bit, got to know and like him well.

Yah, all the old big names came out to SA sometimes regularly, they got hosted at the local gyms, Reg Park, Doug Slater, etc I attended many, it was good times.

I cant place Bubbles Mpondo, was that his name (bubbles) or nick name, doesnt ring a bell, I'll have to think about it.

This is for fighting this is for fun !!

Not a gun and bullets, a rifle and rounds !!

Bullet.

A round is the whole bullet, doppie, propellant and primer concoction.

I remember watching Bodybuilding on Sat pm sport TV as a lightie . Sport was 2-5 pm , Kim Shippey the presenter I think, and bodybuilding had a slot along with rofstooi and rugger and cricket

Sorry Grumps . Jannie Beetge and Bubbles, bit of a curved ball. Jannie was the owner of International health. A good bobybuilder with some trophies on his desk. He fell in love with a black model Bubbles Mpondo . This was the 70 's South Africa. They were constantly hassled and harassed and he killed them both . Doug Slater passed away from a respiratory illness in 2012.

All right. Back to topic. Caught up with some Cadence episodes last night. And Chris says all is good . We have nothing to worry about.

"We" have nothing to worry about... who's we? ;)

His fans ? Me ?

Edit: All of us . The okes sitting in front of the telly stage after stage . Knowing that despite all the promises there are things going on. And I'm not just talking Sky. But we watch and we cheer , and we sit in awe on the climbs . And we see the attacks coming . And we wish we were there , but all the while we know.

Supporters of cycling in general.... I get the impression that those most deeply affect d by this debacle are the blind haters.

I think secretly, deep down inside they have man crushes on his skinny asthmatic ass.

And I'm one of those okes that sit and cheer at the screen too. I will continue to watch in awe and never miss a stage where possible. We/me do have nothing to worry about...

I'm not a Froome hater nor am I his biggest fan but I do believe HE has plenty to worry about. The stigma will never go away and he's in for a rough time in my humble opinion....

Maybe this thread encapsulates the general cycling fraternity's response to this as a whole (long term)? I.e. yes its a big deal but the discussion wont last long and next thing you know you 5 blocks down memory lane reminiscing on bodybuilding or anything else.

Maybe Chris' reputation is safer than we think...

Okay...

So here is what I took as his (LA and JB) main points.

1. I F*&king said it was stupid to do the Tour and Vuelta

2. I didnt want to do a podcast on it, because of my history.... but something did not feel right about how it was all leaked.

3. There are no studies that puffed Sulbutamol increase performance, not 1.

4. Confirms what V12 said. Inhaler reduces effect of EIA, does not increase beyond normal. Chris does have EIA.

5. There is a political agenda, evident from how it was leaked to press.

6. According to the rulebook, Chris and SKY have followed the steps.

7. We are talking about it because it was leaked.

8. Cycling is the scape goat for world sports, and I am to blame for it. (he was very honest about this)

9. The press pressure that he will get at each race now, is going to be ridiculous.

10. Too many competing bodies in the sport. UCI vs WADA vs ASO vs Fans vs Teams etc etc

11. Teams only need to listen to UCI, and under current rules there is no grounds for team to suspend Froome.

12. Incentive for the teams are not aligned with incentives of all the competing participating entities.

13. Dr on show - Salbutamol is a recue inhaler, only used when it is needed. Chris takes a different med to manage on a day to day basis.

14. Without Salbutamol EIA sufferers would not be able to compete at WT level.

15. For 2000 to be in the system, that would be 20-30 puffs. Dopesnt smell right as he would have known about the Salbutamol test as a long term sufferer.

16. JB - Unfortunately SKY is not having the opportunity of due process, as it was leaked prematurely.

17. People dont want to hear about due process, especially not from me. - LA

18. Even if Froome is found not guilty, damage done because of premature leakage.

19. Big question, who leaked this and why? Only WADA or UCI could have leaked it.

20. Something fishy about Cookson to Lappartient presidency transition.

I jotted these down as I was listen, dont have time to edit, have a meeting.

wasn't the first podcast i'd listened to on this topic, and it really rehashed a lot of what i had already heard.

the only big point i hadn't heard before was that with the Disney/Fox deal, the Murdochs might not get to throw bones at brailsford all day everyday...ie. disney might see this as a scandal that they don't want and get rid of the team.

I don't know how realistic this is, but that would be a bummer for the sport.

Ha, Ha, look, the Hub has the attention span of a cabbage, (and I include myself in that :D ) so you are no doubt right, ......personally I have forgotten what the original post was all about already.
