Yup.. it's a recipe that has worked since the Postal days...can't see anyone changing it... the only difference is sky have the strongest riders therefore they dictate the GTs..if any of the other teams had a squad with the depth Sky have they would be on the front and we would be saying we wish they weren't there.

Wait... I know one or two teams will control the peloton. That's a given.

But due to the depth of Sky and the Fact that Froome has been strong enough to stay with most breaks, the combination is smothering.

If the lead GC guy in the second strongest team isn't strong enough, it changes things. Or he is forced to go alone etc..

I do think we would see more tooing and froing at the front. Postal dominated, but Lance was often found on the mountains alone, either chasing or breaking.

If wishes were horses beggars would ride I suppose...

Come to think of it, Sky will still dominate TdF even if Froome is suspended, they have so much depth that their 2IC will easily fill the shoes CF leaves behind as their strength lies in the team protecting the No1 to be able to gives his all only when it is absolutely necessary.

All the next sky leader would need to do is keep up with the Sky riders and keep bit for an attack to gain time...No one can attack if the pace is so high ..that is been the biggest issue for other teams when it comes to sky.

They made a lot of signings..somewhere there is a replacement for Froome..waiting for his turn.

My local racing scene predictions are that in the U23 category the 2 new office guru racing signings of Travis Barret and Ryan Harris will clean up that category and in the elite category the new signing that BCX made of Brandon Downes will upset a few of the more common names especially at the multi day tours.

Me thinks NQ will get dropped in more ways than one at movistar this year!

He is lacking in confidence and the presence of Landa will either get NQ to race different and spur him on or it will turn him into a great domestique [emoji6]

Watch the two of them battle it out and get nowhere and Valverde capitalise on it all[emoji23][emoji23]

Yah, Postal adopted a slightly different tactic, LA would put all his guys on the front and they would blitz into the climb at top speed, this blew 90% of the peleton and all the pretenders out the back right from the get go.

Then LA would be left with one climber usually Rubiera who would keep the pace at a max and get rid of as many as possible, but by half way mostly Lance was on his own with the likes of Ullrich, Mayo, Beloki, then it was everyman for himself. Made for super racing and great entertainment.

Sky uses a different tactic, they just keep a high tempo from start to finish, the other contenders can attack and sometimes do, but at that level today they are all kind of on a par, so getting away is almost impossible, and Froome can just sit in the slip while they are out in the wind.

Besides its not a European method of racing, you will never see say Movistar try this although I think they could, but its an alien tactic to them, the Euro teams don't race like this.

So usually they just sit in the bunch and try and attack to get time in the last kilometer, it may be an effective tactic for Sky, but it completely stifles the race and makes it as boring as all hell.

Hah, Landa, when he was at Astana and was racing like a demon everyone was yelling doper, then he went to SKY and was racing like a demon but he was a top guy, great rider, lots of potential, now he is at Movistar and no doubt will race like a demon, Guarantee we hear "Doper" again.

I am not a big fan but in my opinion only Landa, Nibali and perhaps Ilnur Zakarin stand any chance in any of the tours. Sad really.

Yeah but I don't think they are all that much better, the problem is they are all on a similar footing, Froome couldn't ride away on his own just like Contador couldn't ride away on his own, or any of the big names, neither could any of the SKY domestiques, so its really a case of we all ride together because no one can get away and we will be opportunistic over the last kilometer.

Predictions... hmmmm

Landa will drop NQ against team orders.

Cavendish will not perform, will not like that LM will be the star, and probably retire.

LM will get another unexciting top10 at the tour.

Valverde will peak all year.

Froome will not get sanctioned and win the tour again. Perhaps announcing a surprise retirement  on the podium, covered in french piss.

Sagan will smash everything again, no one will raise an eyebrow.

Bouhanni will punch somebody.

Bardet, GVA, Uran will impress.

Porte, Nibali, Aru, Bling,Pinot and Poomoulin will disappoint.

Lance will do good podcasts.

Clenbutador will have a moan about something.

Gaviria will be faster than ever.

I will be wrong about almost everything.

Ha ha..

Landa has already said he won't wait for NQ if he hasn't lost time and NQ finds himself in trouble.

Gaviria will def have a good year.. fast rider and very versatile.

Allaphilipe, Valverde and Nibali to duel it out during the Ardennes.

Viviani to have a great season wherever he rides
