My preferred method is with a cup of coffee and a BJ but sadly that happens very seldom, it's normally just the alarm and a reality check.

Maybe start your morning with some yoga and in a few weeks you can swap that reality check for that blowie!

Now THERE is a gap in the market for an on demand Mobile App!

Kids are up first. Wife gets out of bed while I simmer. Trying to figure out which year it is. She and my daughter get done for work and school at which point my son crawls into my bed. I have to get him done for school too but its creche and around the corner so no rush. Either he bounces on my head till I actually get up or grabs the remote and snuggles up with me. Either way. I treasure the 15 minutes of doing absolutely nothing in bed because I love his company.

If I have to get up at 5h00 I set it for 4h50 and 5h00.

Dont know why but I really enjoy that little bit of sleep.

Never had an issue though with getting up early which really helps as the twins wake up between 5h00 and 5h30 seven days a week!

as for the waking up part, when it's non-negotiable, I put the alarm across the room. Then I get up and make the bed - that's the point of no-return for me.

if I don't get out of bed, I'm not getting coffee... pretty simple really

This reminds me... In my late teens, I had a CD player/radio/tape deck combo that had a clock with an alarm function.  I figured out you could set it to play a CD track at a whatever volume you selected but it would start out quietly and increase the volume to the set level...

My favorite track for this was Brian May's Resurrection... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WSyQWDyfDJM

The timing of the cd player hitting full volume would coincide with the drums and guitar kicking in... Epic way to wake up!

(And it was effective because I to jump out of bed to turn it down before it woke the rest of the house!)

Hmm, I might go dig the CD out, put the track on my cellphone and start using that as my alarm sound to get my up for my weekend rides...  Although it might not go down well with the I'm-not-a-morning-person wife!! :D

I am not a mornings person

So training days its all about prep , bike ready , helmet and gloves hanging on it , kit laid out in dining room, Brk prepped the night before

Phone Alarm for 04:15

Snooze , check to see if ride is on in that 9min

If so up before snooze expires and stumble through eating , coffee, dressed and outdoor by 04h45

Wake up on bike at first effort , usually on hill up to gate.

Yawn for the first 30 min.

No ride days snooze to many times and run late more often than not

I cannot do the jump out of bed and function thing. I also have to get out of bed the minute the alarm goes off or I am toast.

I need to be up at least an hour earlier than required, sit in the living room with the sliding door open enjoying the cool breeze/freezing air (depending on the season) and have a cup of coffee, possibly look at *** on social media, make a mental note never to look at social media again, have a leisurely shower, get the kit on etc...

It also, most times, helps me be 10 to 15 minutes earlier than I need to be rather than late.

I have a toddler and a one year old, I get up whenever my wife's elbow enters my rib cage.

I don't wake for this apparntly so she has resorted to dropping (putting her down to play) the infant on me while i'm sleeping......
