No. You should have told him that you have a contract at R25k, that you intend to hold him to it and will use the legal process to enforce it.

Seller is a tjop for changing the terms of the deal.

We've all had that phone call, 'I'll pay you Rxxx more'. The honourable thing is to honour the deal already made. And even if you're prepared to be a douche, you'll often discover that the higher offer isn't a sure thing by any means.

Seller is completely within his rights to choose middleman (shop) of his choice. Doesn't matter whether it's inconvenient for the buyer, or doesn't make sense to them. It's the seller's prerogative. If buyer doesn't like it, they can pull out of the deal.

The vibes feel a bit off from both sides.

But thanks for the Friday material!

Wow. Just wow. You hung in there way longer than I would have been able to.

I always try to be clear in my communications if I'm buying or selling.

It grinds my gears when people are messing me around, make me clear my schedule on a Sunday afternoon at 2pm and never show up and don't even respond to subsequent WhatsApp messages I send them to let me know if they're still coming or what...

Some people just have very little integrity!!

Waiting for him to come on here and defend himself, and to figure out exactly how the area around CWC is dangerous. Bellville is a lekker place, but dont be a n**i like Christiaan, then it might not be.

and @hellocolour

You do realize he was just asked to go to a Reputable bike shop in the same street not all over the place like you think and assume. Each to his own though

He actually went physically to the Rev Bike shop without the bike to just talk to them about shipping. If he had time to go there and to talk to them in person I am sure he wasn't that busy. A easy option here would have been to just taken the bike with... He was already there (well according to him when I phoned him) and we could have made the the payment even though it was his "Friends" as he exclaimed. In his chat you could see when he was there

Principle though If you want to sell you need to sell. Don't say you cant wait a week its to long then the next moment say will do it next week. He Flip flops where it suits him at the time of conversation.

Anyways. I gave though everything. I moved on. Hub is a great place to buy and sell stuff and I appreciate the hubbers that actually go the extra mile in BUYING and SELLING.. 2 way street. Will look for the n+1 again soon

My take from the whatsapp convo was that he was just never that keen on selling to you. It was like 1 way traffic; lots of effort from your side and non-committal 1-liners from him, basically insinuating (or sometimes stating outright) that he wanted to sell locally or, at worst, via his trusted LBS. He stated that he didn't want to make much of an effort beyond that.

I wouldn't call this guy a time waster. I'd call him unethical, for sure, changing the price is poor form. But you jumped through hoops on you own accord. I think time was wasted because you kept making an effort when many others would have given up. Just my opinion obviously.

jirrrr there are few things that piss me off like those " millennial" comments

Sounds like something a millenial would say.

He's also talking absolute nonsense when he says CWC is "not safe area". There's nothing unsafe about the area at all!

Seriously? I thought Bellville was the Wild West. Well, that's what we were taught growing up on this side of the boerwors curtain anyway.

so there's the same guy selling this on the hub.

he hasn't logged on since yesterday, so hasn't read this thread.

if you have a bit of free time, maybe do some tyre kicking on whatsapp. first prize to anyone who can get it down to under a grand.

no, it's the unchartered norf - here be dragons territory.

wild west is further down the N2, before sir lowry's. don't be fooled by the name colonial sounding somerset, it's full of rockspiders (and recently germans too by the boatload)

Its your own fault for trying to buy a bike off a Western Province supporter bru.

Then expecting him to just take the bike to any shop because they have a box.

Shops are about  relationships, them understanding your needs and you supporting them on their journey.

As for the price, things are pretty variable in the Kaap, especially the week after Afrika Burns.

Lesson one:

Buyers must learn to walk away.

If it takes more than 3 messages to buy anything walk away.

Hey, see you selling bike? Hows the condition, any worries around it? What time can I come view it?

(reply)

I see, would you accept Rxxx then?

(reply)

Ok, cool see you later.

-done.
