Road Rage!

HelloRyanFowler

Recommended Posts

Cycling on Rosmead Avenue, Cape Town.

Driver tears up behind me and passes recklessly close, throwing his hands in the air.

I catch up to him, ask if he would like some time to explain himself.

He wants to know where he is supposed to find 1m to pass me!

He starts losing his cool, punches me in the face.

I get in front of his car to take photo of number plate.

He drives car into me, sits on the hooter.

I wait for red traffic light, ask if he would like to pull over to talk.

He closes window, disengages.

I still want to engage, have a beer together, discuss better options.

Can anyone help me find this guy?

White, English-speaking man with poor manners, two young kids, CPR sticker on windscreen, and lightning-fast right jab.

(Photos deleted out of respect for the motorist and his willingness to engage constructively)

Go lay a charge at the police station.

Yes, please lay a charge - include a photo of your face if there is any swelling. Don't just do it for yourself, but also for everyone else who cycles that road daily (like me).

Punching someone in the face is a game changer nowadays.

He's in deep **** and you have his number plate and photo.

Report this and follow it up. The next person he punches might not be so lucky as to walk away.

Also, practise your "ducking" technique?

;-)

Firstly, some serious kudos to you for keeping your cool under the circumstances.

A guy must catch me with a cheap shot and think I will be able to restrain myself.

Well done to you, you now have all the power and please like it's been said above go lay a charge at the police station.

And this nogal with two little kids sitting in the back.

They'll hopefully one day get to grow up knowing what a doosh their dad is.

yes that.

Rosmead is a commuting road so there's no way to tell that he lives in the area

Damn dude, I would if reacted to that. Glad you ok, but def go open a docket at the police station. They will most likely put a warrant out for his arrest. Get a medical etc and he will have to pay for that too.

Better not leave it. Get to a Dr asap to document the physical injury and then go lay a charge of assault.

Do it, if not for you, for all the others that commute daily. People are creatures of habit. He will be on that same road tomorrow, and so will you probably. Stop the rot

agree. lots of c#$nts out there. Not worth the time or effort.

I don't commute on a bicycle but they are always trying to kill me on the motorbike. I used to pull zap signs, or hoot or bang on their car...

now i'm just like, yeah p0e$ and carry on with my life. defo not worth getting angry over.

That being said, if he punched me, i would have lost it. so big up for keeping your cool.

He also has his kid in the back seat. Good role model he is.

Do the assault charge at least - as e.g. he might be a gun owner and AFAIK any charges should be checked at his next renewal, before re-issuing. (OK you don't have the name - but surely must be ways (via SAPS / eNATIS?) to get hold of it.)

There is also the http://www.4x4community.co.za/forum/forumdisplay.php/166-Western-Cape , but I am not sure if you should ask the question there ;)

This is disconcerting, maybe he is an old hand at this type of behavior, and was prepared / looking to use force?

 and lightning-fast right jab.
