Hi Guys,

Looks like their are some good deals to be had on the Merida 96's at the moment!

But are they any good or is one better off going with something like the Anthem?

I have a Merida, full suss 26er aluminium frame, had for a loooong time, been a great bike.

Cost me virtually zip in maintenance, only thing ever replaced was the rear jockey wheels.

Still ride it.

I must have got lucky!

Oh yes, my mate got the same bike at the same time, his is also still good.

Merida have a big stake in Specialized. Not sure why the,Merida, brand gets all the hate. I haven't heard of complaints from actual Merida owners; this immediately excludes the haters that have probably never ridden the bikes they b!t(h and complain about.

For people to say that a merida is $&!t , they likely had a merida and had a really bad experience with it.

Bike warranty issue or something, maybe just didnt like the ride.

not a fanboy of any brand, just my merida been cool.

Now own my second Merida. LOVE it !!

Ride with other Merida owners - NO issues !

And I have also owned Giant.  No issues with the brand.

Frankly both will give you good service if you look after it.

I have owned both brands with no problems from either.

I do like the look of that Merida and I think value for money Merida might have Giant beat.

I honestly think with bike technology today there's not a sh#t bike only personal preference. Even looking at the kit entry level bikes (10-15k) has these days.

Ride it, if it feels good who cares what the frame says.

I have owned both brands and enjoyed both and had no issues. It appears to me as though you get better bang for your buck from Merida recently.

I own both brands and no complaints about either. Although non are the bike you looking at. I have a merida 29er HT and a GIANT TCR. My toppie has an anthem(650b) and I have ridden it and it really is a nice bike. That merida looks fast but isn't the shock in the wrong position? Isn't a vertical shock the way to go?
