Mojoman Posted June 25, 2018 Posted June 25, 2018 I spoke to a friend earlier who said apparently there was a fatal cycling accident near Magaliesburg on the R509 on Saturday afternoon? Has anyone heard anything? I don't really have any info other than this....

So sad.By looking at the pic from Netcare 911, I wonder if they were riding on road bikes, or MTB, as there is no tarred shoulder. It would be hard for the truck to avoid the collision if they were on road bikes.(I am NOT trying to stir the pot, I am merely wondering. That road looks dangerous to ride.)

That road looks dangerous to ride.)That road...just like most roads in SA these days.. is pretty bad, the surface is terrible and its potholed all over. There is no tarred shoulder of any value and its full of trucks these days. The guys also know that the pigs don't speed trap outside Magalies so once you are 4 or 5km out of town people tend to floor it as its open road all the way to Syverbult, Derby and then Koster (where you may find a cop or two). A friend of mine passed away in the same area a few years back after a vehicle drove into him as he was leaving a property alongside the road.
