  1. 1. What do you do with your runny nose / boogers while riding?

    • I carry a pack of wetwipes, two toilet rolls and nasal spray on the trail.

    • I close one nostril, shout "FIRE IN THE HOLE!" and go for distance with a good blast.

Hi guys.

Semi serious, semi light-hearted question, but I'm struggling with a pretty simple issue during my training and I'd like to know what your solutions are.

I have pretty sensitive sinuses, so when I'm out on an early-morning training ride my nose runs like a faucet, so much so that I keep a toilet-roll at a checkpoint I return to and keep having to stop every 10min to blow my nose.

My first XC race is on Sunday, and I'd like to get your advice on how to take care of this issue during a race? Is there some medication I can take to dry it up? Do you use one of the options listed in the poll?

Any comments or suggestions accepted.

Keep the road lubed....

Ja just don't lube up the person behind you, you might just end up getting a snot klap (literally and figuratively) in return :whistling:

Slightly gross but I keep a cloth folded up in a pocket... Use that to blow out all the gross stuff... I find the winter mornings are the worst, but this stops me from getting all over everything... When it's runny you can't snotrocket so the cloth is the way to go...

Rocket for the win.  Had to laugh at my German commuting buddy the other day.  He has two girls aged 6 and 9 I think and as a family was out on a picnic or something when one of the girls had a problem with her nose.  He tells her "This is how you do it my girl" and pops a snot rocket of note.  Lost some instant brownie points with the mrs right there.

Flo-nase - 2 puffs in each nostril 20 min before the ride.

have you learned NOTHING from this whole salbutalmol thing?  :w00t:

actually, going to give this a bash...

Depending on the severity, of the run, I can get away with the back of a glove otherwise I carry a pack of snot rags. I'm not going for a podium finish so there's no need to launch a snot rocket that leaves a glistening snail trail down the side of my face all the way to my shorts.

Should work fine - you can get it OTC at a pharmacy - stop using it if you get bleeding when you blow your nose. Read the insert for contra-indications and side effects before using it.

Does not look like it is prohibited for inhalation -

Fluticasone propionate is the active ingredient

As long as you check that it is clear behind you - do as you must !!

Clearing sinus action is fine IF it is a cold or flu - you DON'T ride
