Is it just me that was kinda hoping that the ESL would succeed if only to show UEFA the finger? I mean all these threats and then they only do this reform after the fact yet the clubs have been pleading for decades

Not the only one. The whole structure needs change.... UEFA need a proper kick up the backside.. So do FIFA.... The business model is not sustainable.. It hasn't been for a very long time. Edited by Gen

So while the ESL shenanigans were going on UEFA snuck through an expanded Champions League.

I just wish fans were just as passionate about giving the middle finger to both UEFA and FIFA.

Fans have this romantic illusion about the game.

It stopped being for the fans or belonging to the fans back in the early 90's.

It's a money making machine the only reason there was uproar was because the money was going to leave the governing body, current broadcasters etc etc..

The ESL was flawed in many ways but one thing that wasn't flawed was that clubs would own the league have a direct say in how the money is distributed

Apparently UEFA keep something like 50% of the revenue generated.... But hey football belongs to the fans..[emoji2955]

All football governing bodies are corrupt.

UEFA Champions league final - 90 000 capacity stadium - 22 000 tickets to each finalist - balance of tickets to UEFA sponsors

Premiership - FA Cup final - ditto above

FIFA - World Cup in Qatar which has a human rights issue probably only marginally better than China.

Governing bodies couldn't give a continental about the fans, it's about the money!

this have dated incredibly well, because ....FIFA is still a steaming pile of crap.

this walking turd and his cronies

Lols.. While we are at it.. Rolling subs.. Not players rolling around on the ground.. They do that already. . Catch a breath change tactics come back on lol.

yup. there is a lot that goes into combinations/structures in high level football - complicating it with more subsitutions would open up both the gam,e and the stalemates. win win win.

oh and a larger proportion of the squad would get actual game time. the amount of quality players with splinters in their bums is ridiculous

Do you not believe team owned leagues is better than UEFA or any governing body.

How has the CL league helped the smaller teams.. How has any league under their current structure helped the smaller teams. How many teams have gone through sales the last 30 years. Once really good teams struggle to survive.. .. It's not sustainable in current format.. The fact that the super league has fallen apart before it got started won't change that.... Leagues are dominated by a handful of clubs.. That won't change..

I agree but I am merely asking who do you think is going to benefit from the Billions that will be paid out.Players earning 1bar a week?Thats what I hear.

Secondly the clubs are too busy running their clubs to run the league. So they appoint a governing body.Back to square one.

I dont believe the Super League is the great fix all its made out to be.Anyway its dead in the water already. It will not be the last salvo in this story

At least they proposed a salary cap.

Yes all back to square one.. Same old same old.. Fight for revenue fight with UEFA and so it continues for all of forever.

Fans want chairman's out, owners out yet in 2/3 months time we'll see those same fans wanting their clubs spending far too much to strengthen the teams.. Ticket prices increase, subscriptions increase.. ....and so round and round we go. [emoji1787]

Football is for the fans, my gat[emoji1787]

The transfer window is going to be interesting.

Fans totally aghast at the ESL and the revenues it could generate but on the other hand (Darren ;) ) those same fans wanting to spend 200m signing Kylian Mbappe.

I personally can't see Mbappe going anywhere other than Real Madrid.

Yep.. If he doesn't renew with PSG he'll go to Madrid... Either on a transfer now or free next year.
