DieselnDust Posted March 3, 2021 Share So it turns out Canyon uses their own band clamp to attach the shifters to the handlebar. And it appears its a complete poultry on a barn roof... Stefan Cremer, Christie and 'Dale

shaper Posted March 4, 2021 Share Now conjecture is the failure was caused by hitting a car at KBK race https://road.cc/content/tech-news/canyon-tells-aeroad-owners-stop-riding-their-bikes-281459
Eldron Posted March 4, 2021 Share So it turns out Canyon uses their own band clamp to attach the shifters to the handlebar. And it appears its a complete poultry on a barn roof... Interesting video - especially the part around chamfered edges and the <90 degree angle they work at. Given that MVDP's bar broke below AND above the clamp the issue points in that direction (whether overtorque or design). It is a pity - I really like the pinned Canyon clamp that you don't have to slide in like SRAM/Shimano. The pin position and the female thread might well have been the problem though. It's always interesting reinventing the wheel!!! DieselnDust
