wonder if MVDP will be riding an Ultimate this weekend? aero being everything these days?

 

 

switching back to the older model aeroroad I believe. Hope he doesn't aerotuck it

So it turns out Canyon uses their own band clamp to attach the shifters to the handlebar. And it appears its a complete poultry on a barn roof...

 

 

Interesting video - especially the part around chamfered edges and the <90 degree angle they work at.

 

Given that MVDP's bar broke below AND above the clamp the issue points in that direction (whether overtorque or design).

 

It is a pity - I really like the pinned Canyon clamp that you don't have to slide in like SRAM/Shimano. The pin position and the female thread might well have been the problem though. 

 

It's always interesting reinventing the wheel!!!

Could they not just run a proper fork/steerer/handlebar combo?

But you would still be sitting on a Canyon frame. 

 

I would rather ride a Bianchi Alloy Lite with quality components than buy from Canyon. Nothing beats the manufacturing history of 150 years!!!
