SRAM's Shimano XT Equivalent

Recommended Posts

I had my bike stolen a few weeks back and am getting my insurer to replace.

Not having been in the market for a new bike for some time, they're offering me a great looking bike with SRAM NX Eagle components.

the old bike was full XT, how do the two stack up to each other?

NX is roughly equivalent to SLX / Deore. I say roughly, cos I feel it's better quality (ito build) than Deore, but not quite as good as SLX. XT is, again, roughly equivalent to GX in terms of cost and quality. In my opinion, at least.

In short - NX would, I'd say, be "lower" than XT. But still very good, as all it gives up over the upper echelons is essentially weight.

Shimano XT = SRAM XO

but for 12spd systems XT = GX Eagle more or less

not really sure where NX Eagle comes in but would hazard between SLX & Deore

It's 2013/2014 XT vs. NX Eagle on a 2019 bike.

The new bike on offer is a Carbon Scott Scale 940 (2019) where the stolen item was an alloy Giant XTC 0

Then it's an upgrade

I'm inclined to agree.

Just keep in mind that the NX Eagle cassette is hella heavy.

Don't think I agree with that comparison in the image;

XTR Di2 is on its own level until Sram releases XX1 electronic shifting.

XTR race = XX1

XTR trial = XO1 - there's not much of a difference between these last two.

XT = X1/GX

SLX = NX, X9

Deore = X7

below that: who really cares.

Any Eagle system is an upgrade over previous generation Shimano 11s MTB components.

However

XTR race = SRAM XX1 Eagle

XTR Trail = SRAM X01 Eagle

XT = SRAM GX Eagle

SLX = SRAM NX Eagle

X1 is no longer part of the portfolio

i think the image is based purely on cost

Almost there.

Deore/SLX competes with NX, NX Eagle and GX.

SRAM's X-range is no longer being developed, so you can't compare old X7 and X9 with Deore, which already offers 11-speed drivetrains.
