For those that haven’t noticed, I’ve kept my vegan posts to this thread (no, my post on the hunting thread had nothing to do with veganism) and have not made snooty religious remarks in a long time. Even if it’s just done as a joke, it has the ability to engender, perpetuate and enforce stereotyping of a diverse community of people. Like I’ve said before, it’s a common technique - taint the messenger and you taint the message. I can take a joke, but some people can’t separate something said in jest with reality. I think a lot of it is also down to how pervasive and pressing the need for a move away animal exploitation is becoming. Can you expand on this? I'm not sure I under the connection between the two. What you describe happens across the board to everyone. Most of us are able to see the humour (most of the time). you guys - not so much... Vegans on the other hand have a serious issue with people eating meat and hence their agenda on animals rights, animals exploitation, animal cruelty, factory farming and their plant based diet saving the world, as well as their moral and ethical judgement of meat eaters.
