If the CFO is being left out of the picture.........

That is not a positive sign, at all.

Had a chat with the CFO this morning, he said that he doesn't have a clue what is going on, the owners aren't talking to him about where they are going to get the money for January salaries, let alone to fund operations going forward.

Thanks guys, you are calming all my nerves  :whistling:

-Nobody has received their salaries for January.

-My family medical aid cover will lapse, unless I make a direct deposit to Discovery before Friday, from my own savings.

-Group life cover will lapse, and there is no way to stop that, even if I paid them directly for my own fee.

Fun start to the year.

Needless to say, my CV is out there with at least one bite which might turn into an interview in the next couple of days. It would be a massive jump in my career ladder if it comes off.

Parallel to that I am looking at establishing my own side businesses, tired of being chained to a salary which is clearly not as guaranteed as one is lead to believe.

Good luck - brings back horrible memories from 13 years ago. You will be ok, just have to act now and don’t waste another minute on those ****-pigs

Our company's cash flow is also a bit dry. We have received just over 50% of our salaries to date, with not much more on the horizon barring a miracle.

Job market isn't very active, so feel a bit 'rock and a hard place'.

Annndddd....

Boss decided to liquidate the company.

Don't know all the details of how this will all wrap up with existing projects, but there are definitely more questions than answers at this stage

Best wishes OP

A good couple of years ago I worked for a practice that had us working stupid hours, we started getting our salaries later and later, then one December when the bossman was over seas in OZ we missed our salary completely ... and my wife was pregnant with our first child at this point.

To add further insult to injury, a fax arrived while he was away with forms for immigration to OZ.

Two weeks later I resigned after getting a job offer from another company who heard what was going on and head hunted me.

Took a few months to get the outstanding salary, and this after threatening to go the legal route.

What I learnt from this is that it is all well being loyal to your place of work, but it is a two way street, and at some point you need to know where to draw the line and start making alternative arrangements while you are still in a position of power (Being employed) and then being able to choose your next place of work vs just taking what you can get.

If there are kids involved, then that line you draw in the sand happens a bit earlier than if you did not have kids.
