LOL yes remember that one .... which airline was it?

If I recall correctly the PIC was a guy called Trevor Arnold... I remember because he came from the same small town in northern natal and used to hang around the towns airport where my old man worked as an AME

Nationwide.. Was a crazy day [emoji23]

Nationwide. The engine is still in my workshop somewhere.

Well. . . . okay then

Methinks it was robbed while flying past Stellies. (Things don't just fall off planes like off Land Rovers.) That place has got a bad reputation. Probably the same guys taking out cyclists on a regular basis. Good thing it did not have its landing gear down because wheels must be in high demand. I know it wasn't that Jooste guy or the whole plane would have been gone, maybe even the whole mango?

It's all well and good to say the plane is fine - but it's quite an achievement to get a panel into Kyamandi without hitting someone, it's tightly packed

Missed opportunity

If this was the USA....at least a 100 lawyers would be trawling the area for injured persons

Of more concern is why the panel came off and if it was not fastend properly why was it not noticed by the techs and crew during preflight?

Perhaps LWB knows the preflight / turnaround process better?

In Kyamandi I think you would have 100 injured lawyers - also known as a good start?

When did this happen?

About 2 weeks ago. I do know the exact time and flight but not going to say as the investigation is still on going. I was in the QA building when the panel arrived there and that was last week already.

First thoughts were that the wrong screws were used. You would know about those zus fasteners that have the built in washer. But it doesn't seem like the case here. I don't know the official outcome as yet and when I do know and we allowed to mention it I will.

O and the panel never fell into any informal settlement and it was not sold back to mango. All I can say is the person who found it knew exactly what it was when they saw it.
