LOL yes remember that one .... which airline was it?

If I recall correctly the PIC was a guy called Trevor Arnold... I remember because he came from the same small town in northern natal and used to hang around the towns airport where my old man worked as an AME

I met him at EJSA, quiet fellow, I would have loved to chat about that event but we were time pressed for our “mission” of the day.

Years ago I flew DC8’s with a guy who was the FO on the 707 freighter that lost two engines on the same side.......as in fell off the wing. Possibly Belgium to Nigeria if I remember correctly. Heavy aircraft and unable to sustain altitude with limited turn capability against the powered side, they managed to put the badly crippled machine down at a Swiss Military base, all exiting safely.

probably nothing major, but anyone know why a BA flight this morning, probably scheduled to land at ORT at 06:40, aborted the landing ?

I was loading the kids into the car, next thing I hear jet engines and a very low flying BA plane banking hard over my house.

You stay Boksburg side? Strange because that would mean runway 21 but they been using 03 all morning AFAIK. My guess would be there was a runway change briefly from 03 to 21 and then as he was coming into land the wind changed and he just came in too hot.

EDIT: Or he was on 03 and started banking before he even got near the airport?

Don't see anything obvious.  Does not look like speed and height was a big factor althoug there is about 500ft diff in height between the two appoaches.  My guess would be that maybe a large flock of birds might have moved over the runway or some other obstacle that needed to clear quickly.

How do you get historical data like this ?

Flight Radar 24. It has some pretty cool info. You can track a specific tail reg or a specific flight nr and see what tail reg did it when. Very addictive.

Thanks, I have seen that but was wondering how he got this.

Maybe he there is function to look at all flights for a certain time frame?
