He had a puncture that required a wheel change. This was not uncommon as Henrique Avancini also had a puncture among other riders. Montecon was another and Florian Vogel. That's pretty esteemed company

Ah, a puncture goes a long way to explain the 26th position (sure, not bad but like we all did I had hoped for higher).

Vogel had a puncture? Hell, that is a strong finish for a puncture. Respect.

Lill did incredibly well to hold her start position to the finish. Hope she can get some strong sponsors for a full season.

I don't understand how they manage to get punctures. Surely there aren't thorns there and they should be running tubeless to prevent pinch flats. Perhaps a sidewall cut, but not on that manicured course.

I think the mud change things, they brake and skid over rocks more and the bike is much more out of control making it more difficult to avoid rocks.

See Kulhavy has admitted to lack of form:

It is, of course, the worst possible scenario for me, the UCI MTB World Cup: Nové Město na Moravě 2019 belongs among one of my peaks every year. But at this time my shape is somehow very bad, the chances of a decent result this year are slim to none and the fans do not deserve to see me race somewhere in the deep of the starting field. That's why I have decided to not compete in Nove Mesto this Sunday. Thank you for all your support in this tough time for me and hope you will enjoy the best race on circuit!

I saw those numbers. They are just insane for mere mortals like us. Hats off to the guys infront!!!  I did ask myself the question, was he riding cautiously due to the conditions? If i am not mistaken there is XCO this coming weekend and the weekend after. Not worth ending yourself now and missing out on two other races.

It's a very stoney course. Lots of course aggregate with sharp stones.

Spez lost out big time with KC leaving. Gaze is unreliable and Annika is getting on a bit.. Go Alan you're the new no 1

Agree, I think the issue was there was not room for two #1's on the ladies team. I do hope they come right though although I am not a Spez fan as such.

Lost out big time. She is very likeable, well spoken, pretty, modest, knows how to leverage social media, got a solid fan base, and most importantly - a dam good cyclist. Basically every brand's dream ambassador.

Pretty much a combination of Batty's appeal and Langvad and Neff's skill.

KC really looked that much better than the rest last week... she has made a serious improvement on her overall game compared to the previous season.

She has said her goal last year was the World Champs and it was just a ramp up to that. Going from U23 to Elite is a big step up and she learnt a lot during the year, always solid top 10 results in the WC races.

I think its fantastic to have her in the sport, she is really an exceptional person in so many ways.

And KC is American.

Yanks buy stuff from Yanks (largest MTB market – probably – they'll ignore production of frame/components elsewhere on globe etc etc). Very smart move on behalf of Scott.

She's Californian. That's not as big an appeal to the central states as say .....a Texan....
