Here is the sag after i got the bike back with new parts...

this is normal too. the deraileur takes up the sag. Chain slap is real that's why there's a protector on the frame.

Do you have pics of the old parts other than the chainring

very hard to tell if the bearings have any wear at all. They just look dirty and that's easily fixed with a quick wash in IPA and a regrease. One would have to feel the bearings after the re-grease to establish if the race is worn (there will be definite and rhythmic high spots.

But I suspect the bearings were replaced soema just because its a "major service"

Just to be clear, i never said it is not possible. My problem apart from the bad service, time taken and multiple missed dates was that i was “sold” told to replace on the fly and had to multiple times ask please just do the checks and then tell me what is to be replaced, as in my mind you cant just look at a bike from a angle... and as i have told the ho guy had they phoned me next day saying hey guy, drive train shot.. needs replacement i would have probly just said ok. But i felt i was just a target in a quota of sales.

Will post em now

Those chainrings last a very longtime. That dont look worn, just used

Those are cartridge bearings which are not meant to come apart like that.  If they are like that any bike shop will replace them.

In terms of the chainring - try and ride a new chain with an old (you can't tell by looking at it) chainring and see if you enjoy the crunching from the new chain.  Aluminum NW chainrings don't last forever like the old 2/3x systems.  They wear out.  I see chains and chainrings as the same - if one gets replace the other should as well.

I use about 4 chains per chainring......

chainring and cassette still look fine.

Chain, who knows? have you checked with a chain checker?

Now here is the funny part, this person was told that EVERYTHING is toast.

Bought a new chain once and measured it with a similar "chain tester"...showed it was worn. Needless to say have been using an inch ruler to measure chain wear...

Chain checkers are soft and if you are not carefull you can damage them and then they will show that all chains are gonners.

it is a very small part that needs to be comressed, or just slightly bent on the chain checker to show false negative

those bearings were broken apart during removal.

As for the chain rings and cassette, I disagree that chainrings and chain should be replaced at the same time. You must work for a bike shop...

I have not worn out a NW SRAM chainring yet. On my road biek I run 4 to 5 chains before the chainrings need replacing.

On mtb currently not having to replace anything since if the chain doesn't wear then the chainring and cassette will be very low wear
