those bearings were broken apart during removal.

As for the chain rings and cassette, I disagree that chainrings and chain should be replaced at the same time. You must work for a bike shop...

I have not worn out a NW SRAM chainring yet. On my road biek I run 4 to 5 chains before the chainrings need replacing.

On mtb currently not having to replace anything since if the chain doesn't wear then the chainring and cassette will be very low wear

I don't know about the Sram rings, but definitely for the others (Csixx, Rapide, etc) this is something I have noticed.  I've replaced a chain after 1000km thinking I'll swap chains and extend the life of everything and I got a crunchy chainring.  That's what I'm basing my argument on.

Road bikes are a totally different argument.  I've done many thousands of kilometers on my road bike and the chainrings are still great.

Best way to tell would be to remove the whole drivetrain and send it to me to ride for a few months to test.

Does this cassette and chainring need replacement ?

The broke the bearings while removing them, hence they wanted you to replace them

Well seems i wasn’t to “unreasonable” in my dis satisfaction with cycle lab. Doesn’t really make a difference as they got the couple of G’s out of me and lost me as a client.

Chain checkers are soft and if you are not carefull you can damage them and then they will show that all chains are gonners.

it is a very small part that needs to be comressed, or just slightly bent on the chain checker to show false negative

The one I used was brand new ^_^

Maybe you need a checker to check the checker :whistling:

you laugh but this is sorely needed. The ruler method is a good check the checker method. Where people fail with it is they end up using a nail to hold the chain at one end and forget to take the slop of the chain on the nail into account
