Has anyone done the BIG snip?

So I am seeing the Dr on Monday. I don't know what he discusses or checks but my wife is coming with. So I guess he will schedule the op for me soon? I won't lie, I am nervous.

One of my squash mates had it done last week. His GP did it in the rooms for him...

Im not sure I would want my GP doing that but he was apparently a specialist in the past and has done hundreds of snips.

schedule it for after ctct

Discomfort is minor, but its enough to keep you off the bike for a week maybe more.

This is one of my concerns. I will speak to him about it.

Then go for the general anesthetic option. I had the choice of a general or local anesthetic, and went for the local. Really regret it.

Otherwise not bad, a couple of days of discomfort, that was about it.

Cool thanks. Definitely thinking this route.

The guy who did my son's circumcision goes by the name of Dr Piepie Snyman

Found it easier than going to dentist. Granted I was #1 in the morning and DID not want a friday bike job. local anaesthetic and it's only as awkward as you want it to be, I'm pretty sure any medical proffessional has seen it all before and is not very excited by what's in your pants.

I berate all my friends who are scared of this for being wimps. the way I see it your wife and her body have gone through a load of cr#$p producing the kids, it's the least you can do to contribute.

Never went back for the sperm count test, as the Urologist was a bit more than a butcher with his “man handling”.

What, are you frikken crazy? I think you most definitely want to know that a)they did the job properly b)your swimmers are all done. This was the weirdest part for me, i didn't really think it through but assumed there would be like a room with magazines or something. nope. you just get a container to fill and you then need to deliver it to pathcare at the right temp(/or within the right amount of time or something). So unless you live right next to the hospital, you need to find somewhere "private" to do it. nuff said there.

Then you got to go and deliver it to the chikkadee at pathcare and keep a straight face. needless to say I did not do the 50-100 scheme and failed(passed) the check so had to redo the whole process a second time a few months later. the all clear letter came form the doc with the oh so medical: "it is now safe to resume with unprotected intercourse" or something else romantic.

a couple of days of discomfort doing normal activities, but I was nowhere near comfortable enough to get on a bike for probably 2 weeks

Its also person to person dependent. I've heard of some guys going in in the morning and by that afternoon they are having a run.

The best thing about the snip is I discovered tramsac, the most beautiful pain killer invented. I slept so well when I took them.

Agree. I think I was off the bike for about the same time (maybe a little longer because I didn't want to take the chance). So wouldn't do it before a big event.

Dude ... it took you nearly a year from asking to going to see the Dr

I think we will also be taking the same steps in the near future....brought it up with the wife recently, so will see how it goes.

Conscious sedation. That's all I'll say.

For expansion, it's really worth it. It's not a general, so no aftereffects from that. But it's not a local, so you sorta phase out during the first minute of the op and come back out when you're in the ward. Wouldn't do it any other way tbh.

Oh. And DO THE TEST! Last thing you want when you've done this is an "accident" and the docs will not be liable for any "damages" unless you've had a neg test and only after that have had a kid. It's a requirement for their clearing you.

Will never forget the face on the receptionist when I told her "I'll be right back"

Judgmental smile right there.   :whistling:  :D
