Hey, don't knock it till you try it. I swear every time the cSixx bakkie comes back up Kloof Road to take the boys back for another run of the Glen on TM. Nothing beats shuttles & lifts for improving your descending capabilities.

Just like riding up would improve climbing ability and fitness...

And if you're fitter, you're also likely to descend better as you don't fatigue as quickly...

Just saying  ;)

+1 skills and bike handling improve as your fitness increases.

Yip... if you're bleeding out your eyeballs, you're not going to be making the right decisions and picking the right lines.

The more you ride, the fitter you get, the better you get all round. Don't skip the tough boring stuff... I'm pretty sure we all love the down hills last I checked.

Well at least they are pushing their own bikes, usually the Enduro guys get ski lifts or hop on the back of bakkie to get up a hill.

Ok just for the record. That is NOT a ski lift. That's a glorified fishing rod. I'm Millennial level offended now.

Absolutely, and I never said it didn't. I generally earn my turns, even though I'm absolutely shattered and can't make good decisions / movements on the way down. BUT. Shuttling is excellent fun. Sometimes, you just want to enjoy the downs for the downs without having to ride back up to the top again. Same reason I like e-bikes. Auto-shuttling.

Okay so let me just sum up all the stereotypes here.

The enduro rider's are fat and lazy.

The epic riders can't ride technical terrain.

Roadies don't wave.

Fixie riders are too ironic for their own good.

No one knows how to have fun.

Everyone gets offended.

You can add to my list while I go off to the 4x4forum. Those guys are so serious they don't allow jokes on the forum, yet they believe that adding 2stroke oil to your fuel will clean your injectors and that you will die a violent death if you even just think of hanging a tow rope over your towbarr.

It has been said there are only two types of cyclists :

- those hunting Strava times ....

- those having a good time ....

100% and I've noticed it hugely with my improved fitness. Well, not last time but that was an aberration. Just wasn't in the zone and was suffering within the first 5k.

It must be all that secret training you are doing.
