This is one I wont miss. Those are some pretty intimidating stages I might add. I cant see myself getting through the day without taking at least one tumble. Many of those stages are very physical If not darn right brutal. Cant Imagine what Its going to feel like after 3 stages! Taping my hands to the bars before Iron Monkey.

Whats the chances of us riding Lances trail? (Status Quo)

I have not done the new DH line at all, Isn't Iron Monkey the old DH line? Better start looking for a heavy duty rear Tyre so long. And muscle up!

Yeah... It's a big ask riding up Saaltjie almost twice, the waterfall twice plus one other...

There will be a few sit down's I'm sure.

I can't imagine Status being included. It's a very picky trail and if 1 person gets hung up it will cause a massive clog in the flow of the race.

The other trails all have better 'flow' and aren't as blind. It's a fun trail to ride, but I can't see it being a good choice for a race line. Race lines need to accommodate medium to advanced skill levels with speed being the main factor in it's race pedigree.... Status isn't a trail that ticks those boxes and we want more people to feel welcome at Enduro, not scare away guys on the fence.

I think Plumber will do that sufficiently already.

Iron Monkey is super fun. All 4 mentioned trails are LONG and there will be some broken bodies after 3.. I can definitely see a few DNFs at this one!

As well... and fat... and unfit... and... and...

fat, yes slightly heavier than i should be

unfit, uhm i think i'm okay here,

other than the iron monkey traverse between the Armageddons i think i'm a bit out of my depth. however have never attempted the plumber's yet... my motto has always been if i can't do the entry then i can't ride the trail.

fWonder if it's a bad look to actually start walking from the beep of the timing chip.

I've never #enduro'd Jonkershoek myself but would recommend doing the drop in at The plumber a couple of times before racing. The hardest part is that it's blind and an uphill run in. The top part is also pretty steep and I'm thinking of fitting that 203mm rotor! Haven't ridden the trail this year and the last time the middle part was very eroded. New bike will make it a bit more fun I'm sure.

Also haven't ridden Red Phoenix this year! I'm thinking at least two practice rides to familiarize myself again.

We are in for 3.5hours of climbing alone. Probably 25 minutes of racing. I'm so keen!

They will tape off the drop and the 2 blind rock drops on Plumber. I do agree, that top section is steep and tight and off camber. All the 'big' trails have been worked on this winter, so they are riding super fun at the moment.

Red Phoenix is a Hero trail.... it just screams at you to let go of the brakes.

2.5 hours of climbing? dude, if we climb Saaltjie to Armageddon and Iron Monkey, the Waterfall trail head twice plus one other, I would take a stab at closer to 4 hours of climbing. 45 x 4 plus 1 extra plus rests.... 25 minutes of racing... you must be FAST! Aren't the 4 mentioned trails 6-8 minutes top to bottom a piece already? Plus 1 extra I would guess more for most and lots more for some!

Either way, it's a BIG day out on the bike.

They didnt go from the very top to the very bottom on every stage last year If I'm correct.. Its our only hope :) Looking at my last ride in Jonkers the Saaltjie took an hour after we did Firehut. Anyway, Probably closer to 4 hours yes. If anything this just motivates me to get out there and go ride those awesome trails.

A shuttleday sure would help things along ;)

I'm away for 2 weeks in Malawi so any "fitness" that I've gained over the last 6 months of sweating in the gym is going to disappear in a blur of take away's and slothing in the hotel.
