Smart Pens - Do you use them?

Hi.

I take a lot of notes. I mean a lot.

Between work and University, I scribble quite a bit.

Its always been a challenge to get my notes into a editable format on a pc/mac for sharing.

I have been looking into smart pens that digitise what you write to try and get a little more efficient.

Does anyone have any experience in these things? I dont mind spending on one, but I want to only spend once and make sure its a good buy.

I am toying with the Livescribe 3 or the Livescribe Aegir

I’ve seen many at the office try a variety of “smart” note taking. But every single one end up back with a nice pen and moleskine.

Is it almost like a book or e-reader type thing? Most times a book just feels better?

Hey WP, years back when I started typing for a living, everyone used to do notes with a pen and paper. I figured, get good at typing and your job will get done much faster - now I can hardly write, but I can type pretty fast and once I've taken notes, they are readily editable...

I WANT ONE!!!

I have been looking for this miracle to note taking for the last few months, and was not aware this even existed. I compile pages and pages of notes for my job, which then get converted to technical specifications and stored in the cloud. This means I spend hours and hours after work and over weekends to finish the formal documentation side of things.

Typing has become second nature to me, and I literally have typist skills because of that, but still, I would prefer this pen over typing so much.

I was given one of the earlier models some years ago as a gift.  The problem I had with it is that you must write on the Livescribe paper, so you have to carry a book with you too.  I tried printing my status reports and project updates onto the paper (you can download a template to print your own paper), but it became a bit of a PITA.
