Any advice on where best to park or logistics for the start/finish would be great to read. Thanks

Same for me.  First timer.   Driving in from Somerset West and I am bringing my wife and 2 boys along. I need to get parking in an area to accommodate them as they will probably want to have breakfast and walk around at the waterfront while I suffer  Then they must move towards the finish line area to wait for me ...   I have no idea how to approach this.

First time doing the Cape Town Cycle Tour, less than a month to go now and it's starting to feel very real! Any advice on where best to park or logistics for the start/finish would be great to read. Thanks

Most convenient is probably to park in the Waterfront. It is safe and secure. Just go early. It is a nice short ride to the start at the Grand Parade together with many other riders doing the same. The Waterfront has enough to keep the family entertained for however long you ride and is close enough for them to walk to the finish in Green point to cheer you over the line. You will have to message or phone them from Suikerbossie or thereabouts to warn them that you are going to be there soonish. Or have them track your phone? Otherwise it is a bit of a hit and miss thing with the many riders streaming in, all looking about the same after a while.

Alternatively you can buy a ticket for the VIP parking next to the Stadium, but you have to do that well in advance or it will be full. You cannot get in there on race day.

Whatever you do, just enjoy it. The vibe is as amazing as the route. Sure you can race it, sure you can try and do your best, but if you miss out on the fun part, then, in my book at least, you have lost.

Can't go wrong with what DJR said. The start and finish are not too far from each other and if your family don't mind a walk then they can see you at both if you park near the waterfront. There will be a lot of people doing that so it/s not like they will be walking alone. There will/should be info at registration/the expo as well with maps etc so you can make a final decision there when you see everything on a map.

But I would suggest you park the car and leave it. Don't let the wife drive anywhere as the parking will be gone and it will be difficult to find another a bit later on.

^also...park at the silo district/radison red in the waterfront...that basement parking area is still 'relatively' unknown by most of the sheeple lol. so it is never an issue finding parking there if you are willing to walk a slight bit further (compared to the other arcades in and around V&A). The stairs/lifts come out right at the Zeitgeist museum entrance basically.

With that info it will now be known as the bikehub parking. No longer relatively unknown.

If you start early , nothing is open in the waterfront till 8-9am (except wimpy).  My wife learned that the hard way the first year and sat in car for 2 hrs waiting, now she takes her Kindle etc to entertain herself till I'm done (8 hrs later normally)

We always park at waterfront, but we normally early so parking never been issue.

Finish area is normally very busy, but if you meet close to the bridge at the end (after the coke stands) (don't ask her to wait under it, it stinks)  its easy to find each other.   If she want to film you finish, then i'm not sure, we've never tried that.

It will also be my first CTCT and with my hardtail.  Looking forward to the vibe and beautiful views.  Just starting to panic in terms of training as i only decided 2 weeks ago, and registered with my brother in law.

Some of the spectator stands before the actual finish line is an option. Usually on the mountain side and can be reached over a footbridge from the stadium side. Otherwise along the barriers before the finish line. But I don't think it is fun to be a spectator because it is usually hot and windy and I'm a very poor spectator as it is. Make sure they have something cool to drink and enough sunscreen.
