number 16 for me.

See you at Seaside Cottages.

Accommodation there is already booked. Although I won't be there the whole time. I am shipping all 5 of us down this year and my BIL stays in kirstenhof so we will be staying with them for a bit before the race and then we extending our holiday up the west coast somewhere straight after the race. My folks will be at seaside the whole time. I will stay there the night before and be there during the day most days before. I'll be down there for about 2 weeks. Maybe we can hook up for a coffee at the restaurant there by seaside?

EDIT: I say this year but mean next year.

still need to book and make arrangements on my side.

But yeah, a hook up for coffee would be a good idea.

A little bird in the know whispered to me the organisers might have jumped the gun by announcing the short route option before permissions are in place. Logistically it's going to be very difficult to pull off something like this a day before the main event - let's see how this one pans out.

Yeah it does sound very near impossible but if anyone can pull it off, Bellairs is the man. If it does get approved and we allowed to do both then I am in for both.

Very few have permissions that far in advance, many events only get final sign off the week before etc.

Not to debate semantics on what "final" sign-off exactly entails but no you can & should get permissions long in advance, otherwise you as organiser carry a massive risk that your event is forced to be cancelled "the week before".

I'm not saying the organisers are not going to get permission for the short event, just that they did not yet have it when they announced the event. And it's not a given that they will get it.

With entries closing far(Far compared to smaller events) in advance, surely they should get things confirmed before everyone pays their money?

If that was the case we would have zero cycling events as working with government is painful at best.

Sorry but again no. You can & should get permission well in advance.
