Vetplant Posted September 1, 2020 Posted September 1, 2020 It is conceiveable that Pogacar can be in Yellow tonight if Yates and JA can't stick with the main contenders up the final climb today. Will most likely come down to whoever takes the Bonus seconds on the line and whether or not it is a Breakaway rider/s further down the classification that gobbles it up.Scratch that idea. I see the Uphill finish today is just a CAT 1 because it is at the end of the stage. The Col d'Eze on Stage 2 was the same gradient and distance, yet classified as CAT 2(7km at 6%). I love these uphill finishes - any tech wrinkle makes things so much more vital - it's like a game of chess in slow-motion. And he could even extend his lead today while the rest of the GC riders watch each other based on how well JA did last year, even in the TT (admittedly, it's an uphill one this year), the would be well advised to not watch him from too far away.
