Wow! Ewan came from a loooong way back for that one. Even a jink from Bennet didn't stop him.

He is very good like that.. almost like a catapult...

Everyone talking about Ewan’s speed to come from so far back... But that bike handling at full pace to thread the needle against the barriers was just insane. That’s about as pro as it gets.

Anticipating tomorrow, already, I am.

"The Tour cannot be won here, but it can be lost" - _________ insert any commentator's name here.

It may be a day of attrition for those wounded and bandaged from the ice rink that was stage 1 as they try to avoid the cut.

Remember to run away from work.

Super sprint.

Once Caleb somehow found space between Sagan and the barrier line he was unstoppable.

Well done to Peter for holding his line .. he must have been tempted to just slightly lift an elbow   :)

I am going to assume that the high pace and aggressive racing was partially responsible for the load levels. Do you think that the stress for some to do well in order to potentially make the TdF team also played a role in the load levels as well as the aggressive racing? Or were there other factors?

Yes and the route it was 5 GT Queen stages back to back. Without a doubt Tour team placement stress is there, many teams made rider changes after that week of racing.

Guys also haven't raced in long time, so they were keen to show their worth and many contracts are up and teams folding so jobs are tight.

WTF? The books??????

We are cyclists not accountants! ( well, ok I am an accountant - full disclosure)

Let the sodding Ineos outfit P*ss off and read books

This is the TDF. not a local junior crit whose result gets posted in the local free rag outside SPAR.

They are not racing for the books. They are racing for me and you, the fans.

Let them go out and F**********king earn strava segments if thats all they want

They racing as a job and a pay check and to do well personally whether that is winning or doing the required job asked.

Many fans stop watching in all sports and sport always carries on.

As diminutive as he is, Caleb has such an advantage over the rest especially with a headwind finalè. Mark Cavendish has a similar profile. He can hide all day and lower his drag coefficient lekka and conserve energy. Chapeau to his team for protecting him too.

3 stages, 3 different team takes glory.

The mountains beckon.

Cool on-board camera footage depicting the chaos and intensity ???? :

Ag shame.. that's so bad for him

But fate decided otherwise. After 120 km, on the descent from Col des Lèques, he had fallen victim to the flat tire. Anthony then tried to get back into the peloton. Except that, the heavy braking suddenly brought all of the sports directors' cars to a halt and Anthony, going over 80 km / h from behind, could not avoid them.

While still conscious, Anthony was taken care by the race's medical team. The Toulousian was then transferred to the hospital in Dignes-les-Bain. On site, doctors found an open fracture of the 11th rib, a moderate lung contusion and a pneumothorax. The rider is expected to remain for several days under observation at Digne-les-Bains hospital, where Cofidis team doctor Michel Cerfontaine and general manager Cédric Vasseur have joined him at the end of the stage.
