update

I cannot believe how this took over my day and I have discovered bikes, builders and awesome stories

decided against the Lynskey but really great service.  Their frame is reasonable and free shipping to SA.  I just want something fresher

Fezzari also got back to be, too long a waiting period and shipping for the price of a decent bike.  This bike is sick as the kids say

Unno, no response, they make 50 frames a year The Horn is the one I want and is sensational.  I'd give Lances last ball for this one

Salsa spearfish, no response

Nicolai saturn 11 Titanium - this dark horse has responded and getting back to me.  This is hot

Mondraker - waiting on stock update.  After 8 different shops, MTB Monster in the UK might help

Intense sniper is a maybe in the trail version and I can get one - off putting is a 2021 update.

About the Nicolai:

+ It's the kind of unique bike you want

+ It's the kind of ride you want

- It's a titanium bike :(

Solution:

Get over your fear of painting Ti bikes, even Colnago did it  :)

Get CBR to paint it to look like carbon  ;)

Just kidding, I would love to have your problem, it's a fantastic problem. :D

Wayne this is a fantastic exercise . You going to end up with a cracker bike . Just a serious question though . Are you comfortable shelling that cash on a bike that looks beautiful and unique in picture without actually sitting on the thing or riding it round the block to see if it fits your groove ?

I had the Colnago, that's why I love Ti and Colnago and campy.  Mine was a fraction small so I passed it on.

I love the look of unmolested Ti, hence my gravel bike.

My problem is light is everything on this particular project otherwise I have wasted money gathering these beautiful parts over the last 18 months.

The Nicolai is on the list because it's niche, looks cool and the weight works for me

a good point - I have never tested a bike.  I love all bikes and as long as the size is right I will get comfortable with anything, I'll just set it up right.  My thinking is at this level I'm unlikely to get rubbish.

For racers and people who know what they are doing I would think the margin is fine.  But I'm not one

Right now I'm not comfortable with shelling out any money but all the parts are paid for after collecting for 18 months.  Pyga have been super cool and refunded me for my investment in their new project.  So I've justified the new bike I don't need quite nicely

If I was sensible, I would never have bought these parts, never hae invested in the new MOBU and just stayed on my beautiful customised Pyga Stage

But when it comes to bikes, I seldom make sensible choices
